*** The all new Apple iPad thread - Keep all iPad stuff in here ***

Has anyone noticed that the tracking numbers don't work on the UPS website? just says there is no tracking info available :(

This to me says that it is part of a special arrangement and in fact, no one will get theirs before the 28th... thats my gut feeling what do you reckon?

My oder status @ Apple says dispatched but scheduled delivery is still Friday although it does have in brackets "Subject to Change". I don't expect to get mine early, I think Apple have just passed them on to the shippers who will dilly dally around until Friday ;)

Well you wanted pictures so here's a daft one I took yesterday, in actuality it was pretty impossible to use, it revolutionizes on the bog reading though.

Where's the tracking number?

I wouldn't expect anyone to get their iPad early, even with the shipped emails. They did this in the US and just marked them for delivery on release day.

So what does everyone think the chances are of me picking one of these up on launch day (Friday) if I get to the store at 9am? Anyone know if they are unavailable in stores too?

I believe that you cannot preorder one in store so it's first come first served.

I would say chances are very high, assuming you get there early enough... how early is early is another question...

When the iPhone 3G came out, I queue'd from about 7:30 and the guy two in front of me got the last one...

When I look back there is something quite sad about queueing early for a new phone but if I hadn't ordered my iPad, i'd probably do the same again :D

Heres an out-of-interest question: If I am using my macbook and my iphone through exactly the same connection (wifi, same router, same distance etc etc) the macbook still loads pages a fair magnitude faster than the iphone... never been sure why this is the case but is it the same with the iPad?

I just had a play with air video on my touch and it's made me about 10 times more excited about getting an iPad now! The app works so well.

Does anyone know what the difference is between the paid for app and the free app for Air Video? At £1.79 I may as well get it if it offers something even minor over the free one.

I believe it'll be down to the power of the Macbook over the iPhone (I have the same issue with my Android phone). The iPad, from what I've seen, is nice and fast at loading pages. It has a 1ghz CPU.

Yeah the difference is just that with the free version you can't view all the files in a shared folder. You have to keep refreshing and it randomly shows 3. Some of my vid folders have 200+ files in them so I'm def going to pay the £1.79. However, I guess if you made hundreds of unique folders it would be ok ;)

The app is so good I'm just happy to pay towards further development. It really is incredible.

Webpage loading is dependent on processing power as well as network bandwidth. Your MB has a dual core processor clocked at 2Ghz+. Your iPhone has a single core processor clocked at 600Mhz. That's why. :)

The iPad has a 1Ghz processor so it should be faster than your iPhone.

Is there any way of knowing if you're entitled to download apps which you already have for the iPhone for free?

E.g. I bought say PvZ ages ago but its not on my phone anymore, if I was to redownload it only after I have clicked buy and typed my password does it tell me there is no charge cuz I'd already bought it...

with the iPad, some devs are doing separate versions for the iPad, is there any way of knowing which ones we get for free (e.g. Air Video) or you have to pay for (e.g. Things)?

I think the buy button should say something else to indicate you already own it...
