*** The all new Apple iPad thread - Keep all iPad stuff in here ***

Well my Three sim has now been activated! :D
However there doesnt appear to be any options on there to drop the contract to the £7.50 rolling one :(.
Will i need to get a new sim for that?

I am really trying hard NOT to buy one, but the concept is really good even if some of the actual reality isn't.
As a PC user though a few questions:
Can the Contacts, Calendar etc sync with Outlook - local accounts.
Does Notes or the iWorks apps save to a format Windows can read - Office 2010 specifically?
Will iPlayer work on this or not? I am slightly confused as some sites say it uses Flash and others say it works OK?

Contacts/Calendar etc - Absolutely yes.
iWork/Office 2010 - Not sure but one would assume yes.
iPlayer - Absolutely yes. Works beautifully.

I have iWorks'09 which includes Pages and I also have Office:mac 2008 on my MBP.

iWork can save Office but fails miserably on anything but straight text. Give it any form of template with formatting boxes and you're in trouble. I think it saves in 2007 format.

iWork is faster than Office but Office has some additional bits if you need to use them.. I don't so iWorks gets used for all my home stuff. CV etc are the only thing that get done in Office:mac.

As Office 2010 is only just out on PC it'll be later this year, or more likely 2011, before it comes out on Mac/iPad.

Hmm, cases.

I saw the apple case today and was not enamoured of the looks of it. I want something similar but a bit more... stylish. A brilliant example would be the lovely "The Wallet lite" by Happy Owl Studios.

However their idea for the "Tablet" style position is a little clunky...

Anyone know of a similar style? I'd like the fold out book type case ideally. As I'll be using this on the tube etc. And room to faff around putting away a case is at a premium. :)

Also I wonder how many people got the 3G version? I bough the none 3G version today and keep thinking whether i should take it back and get a 3G version to have it handy for going away? But i also own a iphone in which i could use for Internet where there no wifi then again small screen....

I am trying to find out if the 3G version use wifi hotspot such as bt open zone and cloud??? Or can the wifi version use this?

Picked up a 32gb 3G in Glasgow today and just having a play now :) Went in at lunch and had a play..quite liked it but wasn't feeling compelled to buy one. Then I called the Mrs and she basically persuaded me that it was a good idea by telling me I wouldn't be getting my tea unless I brought one home (I know I know it's a tough life :D )

I did a bit of research on which model to go for as I was erring on the side of bigger HD and no 3G but when I read there was no gps without 3G that sealed it even if the 3G is only used rarely I feel that no gps is quite a big loss overall.

Also picked up the apple case yeh it's a bit thin but it fits well and it's quite good at supporting it for typing and couch surfing (sorry didn't need to visit the pan when I wrote this!

Now i own one I like it of course but my other half loves it and it will definitely be used so..job done if a bit pricey!

Really how come I can find location on map on my wifi version?

I think I be swapping mine forva 3G version on Monday if any in stock

Loving mine still, not loaded it up too much yet as my iphone is still in major use what with the pad being a wifi only one.

One thing that I'm so glad I discovered is (excuse the very dull topic....),,"pages" now there is no doubt in my mind on the "should have looked at a cheap laptop/netbook" as it'll do that too, thats one saving grace I never looked into when I impuls bought, so I feel totally happy :)

Done some stuff with iplayer, airvideo etc... astoundingly good quality and the built in speakers are not bad, either! :D

Apologies if this has already been brought up..

Did anyone see the write up in the Daily Fail today? Apparently the iPad can hold upto 11 million music tracks :D
