Annoyed with Kaspersky Internet Security 2012, it's giving false Trojan detections with Gigabyte Easytune 6 and GIGABYTE TweakLauncher.

If I try and Quarantine the files and try sending to Kaspersky for analysis I get this, even though it is set as the default mail client.

Just an update - sent a message via the kaspersky online e-mail function, got a reply back from Russia lol, saying it's a false detection, being fixed in next update.

Replied back within an hour, very good.

Have heard good things about Security Essentials, might have to look into it. Currently using ESET NOD32 due to getting a free license from a relative that worked for ESET/ZoneAlarm but I think it expires sometime this year.

Anyone suing Bitdefender? Seems to get good detection rates and some decent reviews and it looks like PCPro has the paid for version free this month.

**Edit** using.... USING..... Stupid fingers and keyboard!!! :)

Web User has links for 90 day free trial of Bitdefender & 6 months of ESET Smart Security/ My 6 month trial of latter is about to expire & I picked up BD IS for £12:)

MSE = slow scan + no zero day protection [no heuristics] + no decent firewall. OK MS firewall has come along way but it is roundly beaten by Zone alarm, Comodo & on-line Armor. It still allows 100% outgoing traffic:(

@Nelly Glad you got to contact them.
Sometimes you have to have Outlook running before you try to send email/file/attachment.
False positives are the downside of good protection.
Thanks. :)

I'm not sure what the issue is with Outlook 2010 I tried it even when it was running, going to do a fresh install before I sleep and will revert back to Outlook 2007 see if that works.

Very pleased with Kaspersky, they replied back within an hour and when I did a rerun of Kaspersky it didn't show up anymore as a false positive - very fast updates.

Apparently Kaspersky update they're signatures by the hour, I guess most anti-virus company's do though.

I gotta get a new licence for Kaspersky from Barclays this week :)
Wish I was with Barclays, would save me £10 a year, I have been using Kaspersky Internet Security for about 5 years now, great product. :)

One of the well known PC magazines has a 6 month free trial of Bitdefender - noticed it in WH Smiths yesterday, £4.95 for the magazine though, forgot which one it was lol. :)

Just thought I would add my opinion as I've been given two different PC's recently which were both badly infected with different rootkits.

The rootkits disabled any security software from running and blocked the use of security websites as well. They both had AVG/Security Essentials on them which seemed to stand no chance. They also disabled safe mode so they had total control over the PC. I tried using my live CD's and running combofix and all-sorts of different tools.

After trying several different programs, I came across Dr. Web's CureIt! Which picked up the rootkits straight away. One of the machines had a "Ramit" trojan on it which when I googled it, the only solution seemed to be to format the machine. Luckily Dr. Web helped me get around that.

I'm currently paying for Nod32 but I'm now considering switching over to Dr.Web. Nod32 has had some pretty bad reviews recently when trying to catch new threats and I think I need something more powerful, especially when I am connecting other peoples systems to my network!

What do you guys think? Have you ever heard of Dr.Web? It doesn't come up on the review sites and it doesn't seem to be listed here either but the results are fantastic so far. I have the trial installed on my main rig and it is very compact and easy to use. Not in the slightest bit invasive either.

Personally I love Comodo. Simple, easy to use and free. The firewall is outstanding plus the auto sandbox is a huge plus (especially if you set it to run unknown applications in the sandbox and block them from the internet, which you can then change)

I think the only problem with it is that its slow to detect certain malware threats. Other than that, its very good. Just use malwarebytes to scan every now and again :)

Comodo had gone down in my view after dropbox got put into the sandbox even though I'd had it installed, and that it keeps on telling me that the computer has connected to a new network when I installed any virtual machine program.

Once I have a chance I'll be getting that pile of garbage out of my laptop, and doing what I should have done when I got it in the first place...

Install avast.

Only heard a good review about the mobile phone version of Dr web but it is part of Hitman Pro.
Comodo for Free or go with Bitdefender or Kaspersky.

@ Roachycat what live CD did you use?
I have Kaspesky rescue disk on a USB stick plus Eset on another [requires Win PCE] to create it. A Ubuntu stick. Comodo now has a rescue disk runs in a form of Linux. Also have Comodo Cleaning Essentials, Malwarebytes & Emsisoft emergency kit on yet another USB.. Sounds like a format & re-install is the only option foe a badly infected PC.

Has anybody else had problems with Kaspersky? Have it on the wifes laptop and she's been complaining for weeks that Facebook takes ages to load. Decided to check it out and if I disable Kaspersky it loads uber quick, enable it and twisty cursor for minutes.

I've had other similar problems with Kaspersky which in the main have turned out to be update related, been using Kaspersky for a few years now but I've inclined to dump it now as I can't be bothered.

It was Hiren's Boot CD. I have it on a USB stick and it's very handy!
