I am surprised to see only 22 people using Comodo. It is still the only product that reached the perfect score against the latest set of tests by matousec after 6 years , reached it in 2006.
The only product that confirmed its quality on 64-bit platform so far is Comodo Internet Security
What is really disturbing PC Tools Internet Security is not in this list at all when it is ranked #2

Been using this combo aprt from Comodo for a while. The AVG safe search seems good but the do not track feature is bested by Ghostery; which blocks a lot more trackers.

Windows Defender is Security Essentials on Windows 8 :)

Windows 8
With the release of the Windows 8 Consumer Preview, Microsoft released a new version of Windows Defender, with added anti-virus features, so that it is comparable to Microsoft Security Essentials. It is included within the Windows package, and is intended as the default anti-virus program on Windows 8 computers.

Good stuff.

I have used avast for years but am starting to look elsewhere:
- pushing their paid products much more than they used to
- numerous annoying popups above the standard update popup
- blocking things like punkbuster and generally being a nuisance now

I think im going to go with microsoft security essentials:
- a lot of people have given it good reviews
- streamlines well with the OS
- ill be using it on windows 8 so may as well

:)

Hey all,

Following on from my previous thread in this forum I was wondering if anyone could suggest a really reasource friendly virus package. I have a feeling that the latest versions of AVG, Ad-Aware etc are a bit too demanding for my machine and causing it major slow down.

XP
1GB Ram
1.8ish Ghz processor.

Thanks :)

My current Kaspersky internet security 2011 is due to run out anytime. I have purchased the 2012 version - should i uninstall the old one and install the 2012 or can i just enter the product key and it will sort itself out?

Thanks

As far as I am aware just install 2012 over 2011 and then put in your new key.
Should then be good to go.

The version for mobiles is supposed to be good but for PC less so.

You can get Bitdefender Internet Security for £11 from the site that sounds like a river.

Panda Cloud Antivirus has a new version out. If you click the free d/l link it will give you the option to d/l the pro version for free [limited offer] that inc a firewall.

What else do you have installed to block malware?

I'm still using Avast (Free Anti-Virus) and Threat-fire. They work perfectly fine with no problems. Only problems I can have is when uninstalling programs I need to disable the Threat-fire because it detects the program uninstall as a virus deleting important files/folder from the computer system. Anyone else using the same?
