no idea i'm afraid, i would guess an all new one as the original is pretty old now so newer fans wouldn't know the sotry very well (and they are unlikely to repeat the old series;)).
Thats a dissapointment. I bought the remaining translated American manga books and the story was really starting to heat up :(

Last time I looked, the Jap manga translation wasnt getting any attention from any anime manga groups and individuals had all stopped work on it. Shame. Will need to take another look.

Watched 'Grave of the Fireflies' yesterday.

I thought it was amazing how attached I was at the end to either of the characters, and how engrossed I was in the film. Animation isn't amazing, but it really does make you appreciate the lifestlye we have and the fact that there are people drasticalyl less well off than us.

Does anybody have suggestions of movies like this, exploring 'adulty' themes?

Thanks.

just got the first volume of my NGE Platinuim collection, really impressed with the improvement compared to the original, escpecilly the picture only trouble is the long wait between volumes
also picked up a huge book the other day all about manga its almost like an encylopedia of manga artists, with each section (2-3 pages) describing the artists what works they are famous for and examples of there work highly recconmedned for any real manga fan :)

watched Spirited Away last night, i thought it was amazing. Lovely animation, cool story (though for a while i did think i was on drugs)

any other moves people can recommend?

have you read the start of this thread :)
personally i think if you liked spirited away you'll probably like Princess Mononoke (same studio/director), you might also want to look at Cowboy Bebop the movie if you want something a bit more action orientated.

Yup I posted a very similar question to McDan then promptly vanished :o
Didn't have any money to try anything :( Although did watch Legend of The Overfiend the other week with some people but erm......no thanks :D

*chuckles*

I remember watching that with my brother in law back in the early 90's, not my cup of tea at all, fortunately not my first exposure to anime :)

Yeah it probably wasn't the best of films to watch for my first anime :o Was visiting some friends of friends and they decided to put it on.

They did lend me Ghost In The Shell though so have to watch that soon :)

Well hopefully I'll like it :)
With Overfiend the main thing I didn't like about it was it bored me lol, didn't really shock me hugely after a while, I just thought it dragged on a bit, I was half asleep at the time though which probably didn't help.

i think i might watch Spirited Away tonight, heard good things.
I dont mind posting something negative on this film as I'm clearly outnumbered, so please dont anyone get upset ;)

Its just a kidds flick
Cant see any differece between this and something like the Lion King or Finding Nemo.

it's like many films, aimed at kids/teens but adults can enjoy it just as much, if not more in some cases as we tend to get some of the references a kid would miss.

Finding Nemo may be a "kids" film, but that didn't stop a hell of a lot of adults enjoying it as well :)
Animation, even kiddy looking animation can tell a story that "adults" can relate to.
