Its was boring? you sure that was it? i've heard it has no story and just has lots of tenticle hentai in it. perhaps you could comfirm that for me :)

From what I could tell it did start with a story - 'These two people that can fly and have a talking pet thing must stop demons with tentacles that are raping women'. But then it went on and on, and I can't actually remember if they won or not :o I think the world ended at some point though but it kept going for about 30mins after that.

No offence if anyone liked it, it just seemed weird and pointless to me :o

Oh and it had tons of tentacles ;)

tTere was an R1 artbox but it was sold out long ago :(
They did a "perfect collection" set in an artbox, then did an artbox available seperately from a specific retailer for a while.
I think the only Bebop artboxes you can get now are probably unofficial ones such as the Paul Champagne ones (he's done some very nice official boxes for ADV as well).

Although with the release of the 5.1 remastered Bebop in the States there may be a new official box.

That fair enough Trickle, what else have you seen that you think maybe good?
Dont watch many anime films, but:

Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust - violent, steempunk
Akira - violent, futuristic
Ninja scroll - violent, ninja demon thang
Wrath of the ninja - violent, medieval
Spriggarn - violent, futuristic
Ghost in the shell - violent, futuristic (found the sequel - innocence - a bit boring)
Rah Xephon (the movie) - mecha, futuristic
Cowboy Beebop (the movie) - futuristic starskey and hutch?

You can probably see why finding nemo doesnt float my boat.

Edit:
i've heard it has no story and just has lots of tenticle hentai in it. perhaps you could comfirm that for me
That about sums it up... apart from the tenticle hentai is rubbish and gets annoying as you sit there hoping they get on with the story... but they dont really.

I find it harder and harder to make the distinction between 'adult' and 'kiddie' anime anymore (well, except where tentacle-rape is involved:p). The thing is, most good stories have several layers to them, which an adult can appreciate at a higher level than a child can. I know that Spirited Away was marketed as a kids' flick, but I'm not entirely sure that was originally its intended audience. It may have really comic, cutesey character design, but it uses it to pose really esoteric psychoanalytical questions (McDaniel: I thought I was on drugs too for a few moments:D).
On the other hand, I once read a few of Grimm's fairy tales in their original form, and they're a lot more disturbing than the sanitised versions I heard as a kid, I can tell you that! I felt a bit robbed tbh: every child should have the right to hear fairy tales with lots of bloodshed, incest, death, mutilation and perversion!:D

Yeah, besides the originals, most fairy tales seem to have some underlying disturbing stories. I remember looking at them from a different perspective during my A Levels and it's quite amazing how different things can be looked at lol.

Link please
Err... your local library? Actually just did a google of it and there's about 80 different versions of the text online. But if you can go to a university library and find the folklore section, you'll find collections by later folklorists which are even more disturbing than the Grimms' version, as, apparently, even the Grimms thought they had to cull some of the worst bits so as not to disturb the people throwing parties for them in the elegant German salons of the day:D

BTW Haly didn't you ask about fantasy-themed anime some time long ago, when this thread was only yea-long and these forums were fields as far as the eye could see? There isn't much that springs to mind, but you might want to check out Inu Yasha, which is heavily based on japanese and chinese myths of demons and things, which I found interesting as it's so different from our own, but its main attraction for me was that it was the closest you can get to watching an RPG: each of the main heroes has their own special abilities, and every so often the title character learns how to do a new "special move" with his sword which is as if he had suddenly "levelled-up":p
Unfortunately, it's an RPG where the designers went power-mad and constantly keep upping the stakes (just when you think "now they've got him!" the arch-villain acquires some new invulnerability which the heroes have to find a way to overcome) until the whole thing gets utterly ridiculous and the plot breaks down. It goes on to 160-something episodes and they never actually manage to kill the bad guy, and in fact the last few dozen where a chore for me to get through, as they were obviously stumped for ideas on how to resolve the plot and kept inserting all these lame one-off episodes which would be, I guess, the equivalent of pointless side-quests:p Not to mention that they don't resolve either of the two romantic side-plots either (which I god fed up with very early on, as that part of the plot was probably written not only for, but actually BY 13 year olds! )
Anyhow, the first few episodes are lots of fun, you could watch until your interest fizzles out. There's a plot-twist every couple of episodes, and scary-looking demon-things pop up left right and centre!:D

I love RPGs :D So I'll definitely try to track down Inu Yasha then :)
Anime is still something I'm trying to get into, just finding the time and money etc. Hence I'm still keeping an eye on this thread :)

I managed to Watch NausicaA of the valley of the wind. I've waited over 10 years to see this film, (i always missed it when it was shown on TV) i was not disappointed. Truely a classic film. Animation may be a little dated but the storey is just wonderful. Now just have to drag myself away from World of Warcraft to catch up on all the title sitting around that i haven't watched yet.

As already stated One Piece starts on Mon 11th at 5pm. Its also being repeated at 7.30 pm for those who don't/forget to tape it.

On a sad note. Disney are looking at remaking Kiki's Delivery Service. God no!

On a happy note(sort of) Steamboy is not getting a release at the cinema, instead its going straight to DVD on 6th June.

Inu Yasha is not available on R2 DVD (english) its only available on R1 and i haven't heard any news concerning a UK release. But if you do start watching, you'll be advised to stop playing games as its a very long series. Over 200 episodes! enjoy.

been watching .hack//sign for the past couple of months, can't say it's really caught my attention so far. There's something really static about the whole thing which makes me tap my foot and get impatient while I'm watching each episode, but otoh it's that same feeling which makes me want to get back to it after a few days have passed. Sort of like Morrowind I guess!:P

BTW checked Inuyasha on anidb it's 167 eps + 4 movies

that's what i found LC, it's "slow" because it's more about the character than the action etc :)
it's also got some lovely visuals and great music, it's slow but defiantely worth watching.

Hack//twilight is similar, but much faster paced and more comedy.

Probably a bit too much :)
Although it's been a while since I last watched it :)

re Subaru, that's very true there were some hints in the series, but it still came as a bit of a suprise.
The ending though was one of the most enjoyable i've seen in an anime for a long time and was I think worth watching the series for.
