There are unfortunately a LOT of people on there trading in Bootleg stuff, I got stung not long ago for the Jo Jo's Bizare Adventure Collection.

I should have realised really a complete series for less than a single DVD should have started the alarm bells ringing but sometimes you dont think do you?

I feel dirty.

Wouldnt worry mate its an easy mistake to make.

Hopefully they'll be worth watching anyway and besides the bootleg versions include the 2 or 3 missing Episodes from the US version so arent all bad.

Just see it as a lesson ;)

Just a little info on Gunsmith Cats Manga, May takes refuge and worked in a prostitute house as i remmber.

Thanks for that Lostcorpse, after posting I did a little digging of my own and found out that the "adult" in GunSmith Cats refers to May using those skills learned above to get jobs/information and it is rather graphically depicted, so much so when first released in the states two pages were censored I believe (I’ll leave the rest to your imagination :D ). It is a bit of a shame that it was flipped, but Dark Horse are supposed to be releasing a new version which reads from right to left thank goodness, so everybody will drive on the incorrect side of the road again :) , until then I don't think It will be on my purchase list unfortunately.

Along a similar vein where is a good place to get manga in London. I'm due (for my sins) to have to spend all of next week there and am short book 3 of hellsing which I plan to read multiple times while I am there, if fmp is anything to go by and I think it will be having read the first couple of episodes in book one. You cant beat a wise cracking vampire, not one that makes jokes about Maggie Thatcher :) . I will be staying near Liverpool Street station and need a good store from which I can get book 3. I have already raided all of the shops that I know of in Bristol that stock Manga, only Forbidden Planet and Blackwells (of all places) and got all of the other books I was short on.

Most watched anime must be Eva or more accurately the first episode of eva got it and watched the first episode five times in the same evening, could not move on to the next episode until the following day, just was left with that feeling of wow. Failing that probably GunSmith Cats as it it nice light entertainment and has a number of my interests in it.

Am really, really, really looking forward to the Appleseed film. Have always been a fan of traditional techniques combined with 3d, unfortunately there seem to be very few films that use 3d to good effect, the one exception being Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. When I first was that I was down in town, the bar that we were in was playing and I was having problems figuring out whether it was some combination of live action or not. Guess that could have had something to do with the drink, but all the same the hair on the characters heads when they were in space was amazing.

Elfen Lied, it looks interesting, but at the same time I am a little dubious about series that are only 13 or in this case 14 episodes long, but adv are not releasing the 14th as far as I am aware. I saw Gunslinger Girl recently and I have to say that raised a big lump in my throat, but ultimately my personal opinion is that it should have been longer. Maybe not a full 26 episodes, but somewhere in between. You have only just got to know the characters by the time the series ends which for the topics that are involved it is not really enough to do it justice.

edit: Opps, forgot the whole purpose of posting, der who's a stupid little boy then. Is cdjapan.co.jp any good. I'm looking for some Origa (the person who sings Inner Universe, Rise etc for GiTS: SAC) cd's and they are very hard to locate for reasonable money in the uk or states. It makes much more sense for me to import them and the Madlax OST's (which are not out in the states yet) from japan but I have never personally imported from japan before. Anything one needs to look out for, bar the usual importing problems.

^ Can't comment on importing from japan :(.

I received my dbz order and generally its ok. The subtitles are satisfactory with names sometimes being mixed up or sentences being missed.

It plays and looks fine on the PC and in a tv/dvd combi, however, on my LG standalone dvd player the picture appears green. Is this anything to do with it being an NTSC dvd?

I have seen weird things happening on the tv when a dvd player is trying to output in a format that the tv does not understand rgb instead of s-vhs or vhs, or something along those lines, it was a while ago when I last had to fix my parents tv and dvd player. Strangely enough this only became evident when they tried to play my r2 gunsmith cats dvd on all the other dvd's they had it was fine.

Some dvd players also have the option to convert ntsc output into pal so standard tv's can understand it. You have probably already tried this, but are all the cables are plugged in properly, a lose cable between the dvd and tv could cause problems. I always thought ntsc discs came out in a grey grainy effect when played on a pal dvd player, but I could be wrong there.

The cables seem to be plugged in properly. I found there is a switch on the back of the player labelled "auto-ntsc-pal". Now when on auto or ntsc the picture is clear but completely green. Under pal, the picture is coloured correctly but there is distortion in the picture whenever there is movement. It must be the player which means I'll just have to watch it on a tiny 14" screen or on the pc as opposed to the widescreen tv :(.

Yo Lostcorpse i'll take that copy of stellvia off your hands if thats ok :p i got a spare copy of King of bandit jing if you want want that (volume 1) :)

Guys,

Quick Question before I start spending more money on DVDP...

Am I right in thinking this is the Street Fighter V collection:

http://www.dvdpacific.com/item.asp?ID=53885

I've always wanted the Street Fighter Series & this is too bigger a bargain to pass up if it is.

Also anything else worth considering at the mo?
I like fighting series at the mo
I got Jo Jo's Bizarre adventure the other day & its pretty damn cool & really wetted my appetite for fighting based Anime this week :D

Has anyone seen Baoh?
I've got the Manga & just wandered if the Anime is any good

Has anyone else recieved their copy of FMP:F yet?

If so, does the quality seem a little low in places? To me it only affects a few patches of the DVD, most noticebly in eps1. Also its nice that they included the banned from TV episodes :D

what was banned please :)
whole episodes or just a few scenes ,if so do they add anything to the plot.
thanx

kodiak, apparently there seems to have been a problem with the encoding or masters adv used :(
if you check animeondvd they ahve a thread or two about it :(

Andarial, I beleive two pairs of episodes were not original shown on Japanese TV because they ended up having events that were in the news that week (one pair i think was not shown because one of the 12 minute mini episodes had a kidnapping in it, and a child was kidnapped that week in RL).
