Werewolf/Kodiak,

Quick question for you both...how good are DVD Pacific?

I've just been browsing the site & damn their Cheap for Anime

Up until now I've used DVD Boxoffice for all my R1 needs but Pacific nock them for 6 with prices.
So now I'm considering getting all my future Anime from Pacific.

Just wanted to find out your thoughts as think you both use them all the time dont you?

Ta for the help.

Neil

I used DVDBoxoffice for about a year and compared to DVDPacific they were expensive and slow :)
I largely stopped using DVDBoxoffice at the beginning of last year after a few test purchases at Pacific (I wish i'd made the change earlier, it would have saved me about £300+).

I've used them for about the past 15-18 months and they are normally very fast and their CS is normally top notch.

As LC says the main downside with DVDPacific is the need to email them to cancel orders, and their account system could do with some improvements (but it's no worse than many other smaller online retailers).

Ive been using DVDPacific for ages now. Top notch service with very few custom charges over the past 2 or so years of use. I think I've put nearly $800 through them in the time Ive used them

I only go elsewhere when DVDPacific hasnt got what I want in stock, but thats pretty rare.

Thanks for that guys.

I wish I'd thought about using them sooner though :(

They'd have saved me £24 on my Neon Genesis Evangelion perfect collection if I had :(:(:(

Not too mention the couple of extra £ on my Rave Master & Shaman King DVD's

Oh well live & learn.

I can see Pacific getting a LOT more business now though ;)

Neil

sounds about the same as I've spent with them since mid 2003
there are some very major downsides to keeping a list complete with the purchase price of every dvd you've bought;)

although for the first time in what seems like ages, i've only got 2 discs on preorder with DVDPacific and 2 on order with someone else :)

I think I hate you all!!! :p :p

Why couldnt you have told me yesterday that DVDP were crap & awful & I should never EVER use them for anything???

Only if you had I dont think I've have just bought the following:

Getter Robo Amargeddon: Power Pack

&

Initial D Battle Pack

Granted the Getter Robo was tooooooo good to pass up @ only £7.00!!!!!

But still you might have warned me off :p

Damn credit card, why did HSBC accept me? ;) lol

Well i just ordered : Getter Robo Amargeddon: Power Pack, for that price i cant really go wrong, the animation looks old but i'll see what i think when i get it :) stroy sounds interesting htough.
soundwave if thats all you purchase your doing well :P look at WereWolf's, Kodiak, and my purchases over the years :(. one peice of advice cut up the card, Cut Cut Cut Cut....

LMAO its only just started :(
I'm at work so cant browse properly...THANK GOD!!!!
Just wait till the weekend's here & I get bored at home :(

Anyway Getter Robo is brilliant, I've got the first volume of Armageddon which I brought ages ago, but never got round to getting the rest of the series, thankfully now I have the set for less than it cost me for the the first volume

The story is pretty good & it is a serious homage to the original series & the rest of the Chogokin series' that ran in the late 70's (Mazinger, Dangizer, Grendizer etc.) & they were all the sole reason I got into Anime at all I loved watching them when I was a kid, think thats why I HAD to get the Getter Robo series in the firts place.

I'm pretty tempted to order the follow on series as well now...New Getter Robo, but must behave...the car is due for MOT & new Brakes next week so thats gonna cripple me for a month anyway.

argh

just reading over at anime on DVD, apparently Fumuffo has pretty bad video quality, from what people are saying it sounds like ADV either really messed up with the encoding, or the masters they got were poor quality :(
The big question is,If it is as bad as people are saying will ADV
A: Remaster disc 1 and replace the existing DVD's
B: Bury their head in the sand and pretend there isn't a problem.

I'm hoping for A, but wouldn't like to bet on it :(

[edit]
Whilst i'm here i'm just wondering what people's most watched Anime would be? (not necessarily their favourites).
It may sound a bit of an odd question but I was looking at my collection earlier trying to decide what to watch and discounting some things as too long :)

For me it has to be

TV Series:
Evanglion - i've watched it about 8 times now (at least)
Bubblegum Crisis 2040 - watched about 8 times
Full Metal Panic - 3-4 times
Outlaw Star - watched it about 3 times on CNX and about twice on DVD
Princess 9 - about 4 times that I can remember (not bad for a series that I bought blind because of a few recommendations despite it being set to a sport I'm not at all interested in)

OVA's:
Bubbelgum Crisis - probably 10+ times for some episodes/discs
Hellsing - at least 5 times
Macross Plus - no idea, but it's one that tends to be put on a lot (probably 5-6 times in full on DVD, plus various TV showings).
Gunsmith Cats - probably about 8 times now, it's one of thos anime that is short enough to put on when you've only got a couple of hours spare.
Dai Guard - about 4 times, in the last 18 months.

Films:
Princess Mononoke - too many times to remember, but at least 6-10 times (it's one of my oldest discs).
Spirited Away - probably 6-7 times on DVD
Patlabor 1 & 2 - at least 4 or 5 times each.

Some like Macross Plus and Mononoke tend to get a lot of play because I like the soundtrack/know the story pretty well and can quite happily put them on in the background whilst I'm doing other things. Others because i've had the discs for a long time, or find i'm "in the mood" for them on a more regular basis.

What I found slightly odd thinking about is some of the titles I don't watch much, but really enjoy.
Things like Gunbuster - i've seen it maybe twice in full and rate it as one of my favourite OVA's, but because it's only available subtitled I can't put it on without paying full attention to it all the time (not to mention the really poor quality of the only legitimate release with subs).
Boogiepop Phantom, I loved that but can't sit and watch it if i'm not in the right frame of mind.
Grave of the Fireflies - I rate it very highly, but have only ever watched it once, but keep thinking about it whenever I'm trying to decide what to watch (it's normally ruled out as it's too sad).

my most wacthed stuff would be Love hina, Evangelion and Mahromatic, evangelion is my fav :p

PS anyone goin to Mcm either today or tommorow posted about it a while ago but just wondering whos going off here

Hey guys,

Been a bit quiet recently so I thought I'd pop in and say hello :D

Bad news on Fumo :(
Hope they get it sorted, bet we have to wait until they do the complete boxset and then they'll fix it :(

So getter robo good then ?
Ordered it a few weeks back and not got round to watching it yet.

The New appleseed arrived a few days ago and I've just sat and watched that this morning...

OMG I was abit dubious about the Animation being partly CG but holy **** It looks amazing, the characters still have the cel shaded look about them but interact amazingly well with the CG surroundings. Keep a eye out quite early in the film for where deunan jumps on the bed.

Theres a rather brutal intro, which almost seems choreographed in places as it just flows so smoothly.

I've not heard of the guys that did the music but Im looking into them now as the soundtrack was pretty cool.

All in I thought it was a very well done movie and would recommend that al of you watch it if you haven't already.

Also If you are getting it get the colelctors edition as the case it comes in is really nice its plastic inside but has a metal shell with a nice matte finish.

Havent looked into the extras disc yet but will be soon as it has a sneak peek link to footage of the game apparantley.

Did anyone get the scrapped princess vol1 with statue ?
Whats the quality of the satatue like and is it a good sculpt ?
Any pics ?

Cya4Now :p

I enjoy Getter Robo but then I have a massive thing for the whole Chogokin Anime so this is just perfect by me (Although I've only watched the first Volume ;))

I just wish they'd re-issue the rest of Chogkin stuff from the early 80's I really miss all that :(

I keep meaning to pick up that Appleseed movie, I'm really looking forward to seeing it.

As for What Anime I watch the most thats a toughie.

I've only really watched the following more than once...

3x3 Eye's
Fist of the North Star
Vampire Hunter D
Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust
Gatchaman
Akira
Ghost in the Shell
Street Fighter 2
Dragonball Z (Must be my most watched Anime EVER...still love this series)
Gundam Wing

Thats about it.
