Not seen it although I have seen bits an pieces about it. Kinda one of those series I vaguely think now and then I might enjoy but haven't really paid much attention to.

Anyone seen Planetes?
I got the set through a couple of days ago and it seems like a more realistic space anime than most :)

Planetes is an excellent series and there are not many that are better in my opinion. It's realistic and gritty sci-fi drama that's rich in detail and also has the right amount of comedy. Though I would note that some of the early episodes are a bit weak and the somewhat silly nature of them isn't a good representation of how the series develops and how serious it gets.

It's certainly a must watch for sci-fi fans.

Think i'll dig out my Tenchi DVD's and try and get my mits on the second season of Haruhi. Is it any good?

Haruhi S2 ... well, firstly I''d say that it's not really a "S2" in the traditional sense ... the episodes slot into the chronology of the first season instead of following on afterwards. Opinions are split over the endless 8 sequence of episodes with some people saying to skip them and others saying that they are different enough to be worth watching.

There are also issues with the release ... the original US release had audio issues (the same audio down both channels on the Japanese track), the upcoming UK release appears to have the same issue (and Manga UK have been pretty bad with their responses so far), the AU release ... is unconfirmed last time I looked ... their seem to be no reports of the audio issue but Manga UK got their PAL masters from there so it is likely there is a problem. The JP BD boxset of both series has English subs (and from memory dubs) but is quite expensive.

I'm dreading the endless 8...I suspect i'll be dozing off during it if i'm not careful :)

I like Panetes ... it is a more realistic / serious space anime than most. In some ways its tone reminded me a bit of Stratos4.

Woo-hoo ... NISA have Kimi ni Todoke :)

First part, of two for season 1, due in October
Will they do an English dub?or subs only?I wonder :)

Hmmmm .... few more interesting license announcements ....

Aniplex of America:
Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Blue Exorcist

Funi:
Cat Planet Cuties (urgh poor name ... it's Asobi ni Ikuyo)
B Gata H Kei
Last Exile - Fam The Silver Wing- (we knew they were involved with this but there's confirmation of BD/DVD release as well as simulcast)
Baka to Test S2
C
Steins;Gate
Deadman Wonderland

I was distinctly underwhelmed with the Nozomi announcements.

Hugh! Indeed! I've rewatched it twice and this has actually grown on me and would like to see a second season! Not to mention it does have some excellent character designs!

There's an ova out too, it's very much fanservice but that's pretty normal when the plot is as thin as the clothing lol

And where exactly did funi get the name from... I could understand Bombshells from the Sky as that's what it's full title includes (according to tvdb.com) but cat planet cuties....

With names like that, it's almost like they WANT to put people off the series...ughhh...not sure who on earth thought that was a good name.
It's pretty much a given now that ANY fan of the series will continue to use the JP name rather than the US one!

I've been looking for that series as it gets high recommendations, but most of the time i get hentai results :p

Asobi really isn't that good, certainly not worth high recommendations (IMO). It's not hateworthy, but certainly not a great. It falls into the shallow-but-easy watch category.

Asobi is a good, fun, series of it's type. Yes it's not big and clever but it's a good fun watch without being complex and heavy. Is it a great? ... of course not, but it doesn't try to be great either. Personally I liked it.
