In the UK Amazon, Play, Zavvi/TheHut and United Publications are worth a look. Most of the big DVD sellers have at least a little.

Yeah i noticed they had most of the popular stuff, was hoping there would be some specialist shops that had a bigger selection and where prices were a little more wallet friendly
Cheers Alex
Anyone seen this yet? http://uk.io9.com/5815306/american-...on-for-bringing-manga-to-canada-on-his-laptop
Ouch!
Ran out of time to marathon Rec as I ended up catching up with a friend with a beer due to the weather. Did manage to finish Kashimashi though. After Brighter... I was a little worried about how the series would hold together, but luckily, despite some issues it largely held together reasonably well, even if the OVA did feel a bit tacked on to follow both routes.
Not an classic or a favourite, but certainly charming enough. Would perhaps give it 6.5-7/10.
Yeah, this was my thought too. Another site mentioned it was supposedly a Puella doujin, which would go with stuff customs might not like.I have to admit that my first thought is .... so how much of it will turn out to be dubious hentai / ecchi stuff which obviously would be a problem with Customs.
I do like Kashimashi, it's a nice fairly laid back series ... but the main character defines indecisiveness ...
Otaku.co.uk tends to have some titles available (although I tend to use them more for artbooks)
Did make me a little thankful though as I took the S&W manga I was given for xmas with me on holiday to read, and although thats not dubious and all art is in context, it is mature rated for the subject and some of the art and it makes me wonder if that would also fall foul on some countries' customs, when stories like this air.
Unfortunately our UK rights for Lain expired some time ago. After the collapse of Geneon rights now sit with Universal (Japan) and any relicensing is proving difficult.
How does the manga compare to the Anime? She's only really naked a lot in the first couple of episodes and towards the end of the second season she's almost completely covered up the whole time!
So got an email back from MVM for my enquiring about Serial Experiments Lain;

It's as if Japanese companies don't want to make money.... or better yet release Japanese releases with english subs at the very least then companies like MVM can be a redistributer...
Although its second hand. CEX/Webuy seem to have a few copies in a few stores
Harlowe, Sunderland and Yeovil apparently, if you can't find a copy on eBay new.
I guess the hands of the Japanese base is tied by what US headquarters thinks is "cost effective". Simply not enough call for a re-run of region 2. It's a shame that Universal picked up such a large chunk of Geneon's catalogue as there's probably a few more titles that'll never again see the light of day.
Stopped watching anime after 2006. 2007's season didn't really interest me and i haven't been back. However seen an advert today for HMV with Akira in blue ray which might tempt me back.
Anything decent happen in the last 5 years? I was pretty much in love with black lagoon/Ergo Proxy/ Kanon 2006 etc.
