Mannveruppd was the one who made the direct contextual description; I just tried to explain the rough situation with the series; as I think Nitefly and Runningman have misjudged the nature of the series.

In Nitefly's own words:
"I just looked up the first episode of this to try and prove me wrong that this wasn't perverse and jesus christ, was just horribly porny - naked teenage girl prowling around on screen"

Oddly enough; the series isn't particularly perverse. It's not a fanservice anime, a lurid romance or a hentai, it's a period drama with a touch of fantasy. The whole point of *context* seems to have been lost in the above.

I have to agree with Alex here this is not a Pervy kind of series if thats your game there's plenty out there but this is not one of them, as he puts it it's a period drama with a touch of fantasy.

I was responding in jest with a light hearted 'trolly' comment to the post that was light heartedly accusing me of being a troll.

Meep! Wouldn't have posted it if I thought it would have upset anyone that much!

I don't think people like being called potential borderline paedophiles even if in jest ;)

Perhaps not the way it was intended but could be the way it's taken.

No offence taken; I'm pretty hard to offend these days :)

I just think you're being harsh on the series and were jumping to conclusions based off the first episode, when it's actually an excellent (if marmite BECAUSE of all the talking heads and dialogue) series. The focus really isn't on fanservice at all with this series; I've got the official artbook covering the anime/novels up to about 12 IIRC, and only about oooh...1-2% of the artwork is anything you might not like, and even then some of the stuff that is nude is character designs etc, as in the stuff thats often drawn ambiguously anyway. To be fair; I've not seen many series at all dealing with shapeshifters where the shapeshifters enter human form with clothes on. Even childrens books like the old Animorphs series admitted...'oh cack, we're naked when we shift back!'

It's also not often you come across a romance couched in the fundamentals of medieval traders lifestyles with a slap of fantasy, and a lot of wordplay and chemistry between the protagonists :D

@LeJosh - sorry completely missed your comment before work! Yes the series IS better in Japanese, the voice work is excellent, which itself lends to the characters. The English dub isn't bad, but Brina Palencia just isn't as good as Ami Koshimizu at conveying the full range of emotions and moods Holo throws about :)

Coming Soon via Manga UK....

Vampire Bund has been rated as a 15 if I remember correctly.

To be honest, having seen it, I'm not surprised as it was nowhere near as bad as I expected from the things that had been said about it and the panic over whether the US release would be censored or not.

Sure there may be some skimpy outfits but there's little/no sexulisation really.

Reading the plot description reminded me of Settler's of Catan - now that is nerdy :p

I'll happily admit that I might have got a bad taste from that episode, I was only commenting on what I saw.

I think its more due to the fact that Mina looks like she's about 10 (Deliberately as it turns out as it's a disguise)

You'll soon realise if you watch the two series that Holo's not above playing off against Kraft's male nature in various ways if it wins her an argument; whether by flirting, taking a submissive roll, outmanuevering or by outsmarting him. She's a really interesting character to watch in action, its only really during Season 2 that Kraft even begins to work out how to win arguments. For reference Kraft/Lawrence is the same character; he's bizzarely (and perhaps accidentally) officially called Kraft Lawrence rather than Lawrence Kraft as most expected.

She's got a few hundred years of experience on him, and can make him appear incredibly naive or simple at times (even more so in the books where you're seeing some of Kraft's internal monologue which you don't get in the show) :)

For reference Season two covers books 3 and 5, Season one is books 1 and 2 of the original material; and an exceptional translation to the screen based on what I've read. One of my favourite series, because at times it's tense, othertimes funny, other times charming and other times sweet; and most of the time a little different from the norm.

My point being though that if it was as bad as it had been described as being then the chances are it wouldn't have been rated at that level.

From memory the "worst" parts were the eye catches round the add breaks instead of the animation itself anyway
