Interesting news about Kimi ni Todoke, is the series any good? (I'm tempted to order it)
[edit]
I also see that apparently MVM have licenced Welcome to the NHK for release here, depending on the price I may double dip, as I liked the TV series (I'm currently reading the manga*

Kimi ni Todoke is actually quite nice, its a slice of life esque romance drama with some humour at points. I quite enjoyed it and the live action film, although I've not got round to season 2 yet.

Interesting on Welcome to NHK as I've seen it recommended a few times so I might check that out .

Watching Ichigo Mashimaro atm. It is a little plain but i think its nice. That miu or whatever is such a bully to the rest of em. :p

I liked the series for Strawberry Marshmallow but the later OVA I just found a bit dull really. The original series is a nice watch though, it's a pity it's OOP.

Got the OP and ED CDs for the second half of Hanasaku Iroha earlier along with a few other bits. One of the others was the LE version of Ready, the OP for Idolm@ster. Comes with quite a nice little DVD which had more content than the DVD which normally come with singles. It has an animated video of the song, two segments with four of the VAs talking and performance by the full cast of two songs at a live event in Tokyo.

I've just found out, beyond the prequel that had already been greenlit for Bakamonogatari (that is meant to cover what happened between Koyomi and Kiss-Shot), that they've just announced the sequel series has been greenlit.

I know Bakemonogatari isn't met with universal praise here, but it was still a decent series, so I'm not unhappy to see a true sequel following it :)

Edit:
Just as a small random aside, I rebuilt my HTPC earlier this week with a new hardware and the latest unofficial Dsplayer branch (its officially discontinued) of XBMC and drivers and its running like an absolute dream. Things like autorefresh rate changes are working properly which never used to with the old hardware.

Runs virtually silent too! Absolute bliss for watching my ripped discs etc :) With the CPU upgrade should handle hi10 fine when the time comes too :) Also dual playback engines for any ahem interesting shows that the primary DSPlayer doesn't like.

Makes me so glad I got shot of my WDLive even if it has been an occasional pain. Can even control it through my phone as the remote!

So, watched a couple of things this weekend ...

Latest God's Memo Pad and Hanasaku Iroha, these were both quite good although the latter was a bit weak compared with the previous couple of episodes. The former was a good episode which raises some questions over the events at the end of the previous episode.

Re-watched the first season of Koihime Muso ... good mindless fun and fanservice. The first season of this series is a nice introduction to the characters and the world although it does suffer a bit, as do the later series, in that the cast just grows and grows as the story goes on ...

The other series I've been watching today ... well Ive had a boxset of four disks in my backlog for ~4 years which is ADV's Samurai X which is apparently the OVAs and movie of Rurouni Kenshin. Included OVAs are Trust and Betrayal as well as Reflection. Now I've seen the first few episodes of the series of this title (I've season 1 boxset around somewhere) and didn't really get on with it but I got on better with these (although they are supposed to have issues with their subtitles?). But I don't think I'll be picking up the Aniplex US BD release.

Other than that I have been re-watching my way through Kimi ni Todoke.

Ahhhh Got to go back to work tomorrow :(
After 3 weeks off, been on an animé binge :D
Kept meaning to post what i have been watching but never got around to it.Will probably update this post tomorrow (Got through a few BIG series that had been on my hdds for a few years)

I've got the end of the week off but it's rearrange the home office time so I don't know how much extra anime watching I can squeeze in :)

Finish re-watching Kimi ni Todoke last night (both seasons). Great laid back seasons with funny and emotional moments. The story is dragged out and is quite slow but in a good way and is due to the personalities of the characters involved.

Watched the US BD release of the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya earlier, (I'd previously seen the HK BD release).

First off you need to have seen the series before watching the film ... otherwise you won't understand what is going on (particularly in the second half). The film is very dark, a lot darker than the series ... the first half in particular is pretty much drama without the comedy aspects we've come to expect. It is quite shocking at times but that is balanced by having the return of grown-up Mikuru in it ;)

It's a good watch, although it does leave stuff open at the end for further films etc ...

This came last week, she's so kawaii.: http://myanimecollection.game-maps.net/gunslingergirl/2011-09-05 21.05.57.jpg

Haven't had time to take some really nice photos of her yet, but hope to soon.

This also came the week before: http://myanimecollection.game-maps.net/hatsunemiku/nendoroid/support/2011-08-30 11.48.12.jpg

But am selling that to some guy in Aussie since I don't really like Nendoroids, but brought it because I wanted to help Japan, each purchase gave the Japan Red Cross 1000 Yen. Made a profit with the sell so it's going towards a purchase of an other figure that is coming soon.

Squid Girl, Tamayura, Last Exile and Shana for me.

Really looking forward to Last Exile. The last series had a great aesthetic style to it, so looking forward to most of the same.
