I've been wanting to get into anime for awhile now. But much like Haly, the stuff I see on TV seems way beyond me and I have no idea wtf is happening. Perhaps someone could recommend somewhere to start for me?

I'm heavily into fantasy novels, having read every Tolkien, David Eddings, Robert Jordan books there is etc. Something along the vein of those would be great, but anywhere to start off really. I remember watching Guyver (I think?) along while back and enjoying it.
 
Evangelion is a Must see series.
Not to everyone taste but I thought the El-Hazard series was great and its not my usual type of anime, I'll give that sorta stuff a try now rather than just not bothering.

Trigun was great a good mix of action/comedy/western lol.

OT - Was just checking my orders on pacific...

only ordered the FMA vol 1 a few days a go . . . Its already showing as discontinued :eek:

Didnt realise they would go so fast, thankfully mine has been shipped :D
 
I'm currently watching "Full Metal Panic". It lacks the emotional weight of Evangelion, but otherwise it's excellent. Comedy, action, romance and big robots!
The comedy aspects are genuinely hillarious too. :)
 
Deos anyone in here get models n stuff as well as DVDs ?

Just wondering as I saw the new Evas yesterday and am very tempted :D

Ive Also had my eye on one of the Angel models for quite a while now as well, and its still sitting there at the store.

I've got a few cheap models (around 4" high.) One is Chii from Chobits wearing a black dress, and the other 2 are Shinobu and Kanako from Love Hina. :) They scare my mum. :)

Who was Kanako? I watched every episode of Love Hina including specials and LH again, and don't recall a character by that name. :confused:

Keitaro's sister. ;) Was one of the main characters in Love Hina Again. Had a freaky black cat.

on that subject does anybody know if MVM have the rights to LH again, i know they said they were bringing the spring and christmas movies out over here but there was no word on LH again :confused:
 
hmmm... maybe but its the same situation with a lot of r2 anime titles i.e tenchi has dissapered since the last movie same for mahoromatic, think i need to get e-mailing :p
 
fieldy, i think LH Again may be having problems in Austrailia due to a rights issue (i think something to do with the music), in which case it could well cause problems for the MVM release.

I can't see the content of it being any more troublesome than that of a lot of other titles (both anime and live action):)
 
if anyone is interested, apparently GITS:SAC 7 is going to come with a t-shirt (third for the series) and a tin to hold all 7 volumes :)

oh, and efen lied is getting a "cast guessing game" over at AOD, so i'd guess it's maybe 3 months from release (I think that is about the time normally between the case guessing games and release)

The Angel I was lookin at was sachiel, tis a jap import.

The new Eva figures, a Range of the Eva Units, Heavily detailed and look well accompanied by accessories. Think they were by Toy Vault, will check tomorrow.

they were all about 9" high, eVa were £15ish and the Angel was about £24
 
so as i cant get hold of LH again (just yet :rolleyes: ) whats evrybody reading Manga wise i'm still trying to get throght A.I. love you and Ai Yori Aoshi, will probably look at getting the ghost in the shell manag next :)

but i already got all 6 volumes of love hina R2 really would prefer to get them on R2, ahh i can wait+ i have to use my PS2 for all DVDs which means using a region x :( plus i can only find the LH Again movie... i always thought there were three volumes of it
