The "All-Things-Guitar" Thread

I used to have a POD and then sold it for a FloorPOD which is used as a backup pedal in case any amps blow up on stage and we have to go straight into the PA (it has happened twice).
In the house I use the Line 6 KB37 Toneport.

Thanks mate. Actually leaning more towards the Digitech RP155 at the moment. Been watching some of those JustinGuitar vids. Seem quite useful. Will be even better once I have a guitar :D

Get ready for the best piece of advice you will ever hear/read:

Learn how to work out, and play music by ear.

I know I know :p I've only just picked up the guitar again recently (New Fender, New amp, New leads, New pedals etc.) so I just wanted to get a few simple songs in before I become a serious guitar player again.

Written music has its place, no question. But don't feel like you can't learn a song because you can't find the tab. ;)

Well, if you decide to start, get ready for a tough time. It is sooooo difficult, and you will feel like it's impossible for a while, but I promise that the more you do it, the better you will get, and your musicality will benefit no end.

May I recommend a piece of software called Amazing Slow Downer, as it will make this process much, much easier. I use it for transcribing solos, as it allows you to slow the music right down, whilst maintaining pitch, and sound quality. It's worth every penny. :)

Thank you so much! I wonder why they are blocked on Ultimate Guitar then, aren't Feeder an English band so why would they not want their tabs to be shown here?

Copyright protection, I guess. They probably have someone in their chain of marketing selling books of official tabs.

I'm pretty sure you can do that with windows media player for up to half speed with normal pitch.

I wonder if you guys who use Tux Guitar can help me. I am confused by the Fretboard. It has the thin strings at the top, and I have to select Left Mode in order for it to show the guitar as if I am facing someone playing it. Is this how you guys use it? And it seems there are different tunings in all the songs (not standard EADGBE). How can I see what tunings the tab was set to?

Hi,

If you use guitar tablature, the strings that play the highest notes (the top strings) are places at the top.Tux guitar and guitar pro simply reflect guitar tablature. This is the universal way in which it is done as it represents what it looks like to you when you look down at your guitar to play the strings. Guitar pro does exactly the same.

To see the tunings, double click on the track number (the instrument that you are following) and it should bring up information, including string tunings.
