The AMD Driver Thread

Greg,

So far tested on a single card, maximum settings x4 MSAA no stutter at all locked at 60fps with vsync on. x8MSAA brings fps down below 60 slightly, but no massive stuttering. Settled for x4MSAA for smooth gameplay.

Quad Crossfire appears to be working as well, though i suspect it needs a proper profile to see decent gpu usage.

Thanks for doing that Matt. I did try to record it but Raptr is just recording a black screen. It is quite frustrating, as it is either tearing or stuttering in a few games (Ethan Carter/The Witcher 2/Portal 2) No idea why and frames are good. Some games play nicely with V-Sync on though (Tomb Raider/Assassins Creed Unity/Shadow of Mordor).

Appreciate any help :)

It's perfectly smooth at the settings i used above @1440P with a single 290X card so not sure what to suggest.

Strange one. Oh well, my main game is fine apart from tearing (ED), so all good :)

I just used the Gaming Evolved APP to record me playing on 1x290X, uploading to youtube now. Couldn't replicate black screens, stuttering or tearing. :)

If i can recreate the stuttering, I'll raise it as an issue but it seems to be working fine for me on two different Asics, R9 290X and a R7 260X across an Intel and an AMD system.

EDIT

I just noticed an ingame option to lock fps to 60, perhaps worth giving that a try.

Doesn't look smooth to me, although it might be the way we see it from our end.

It's hard to tell because of the extremely slow movement but parts did look a bit jittery.

Could be a recording side effect with the game as i couldn't detect any judder during actual gameplay. I'd need to see some evidence of stutter while playing before i would raise it as a bug.

Anyone know how to get Advanced warfare smooth with crossfire enabled?

It's unplayable - and thats with a gamepad.

This is single player, by the way.

Already disabled all those aching things. Are there particular other settings that cna make it not run like turd?

Unfortunately that game is not multi gpu friendly and a Crossfire profile (even though we have one already present) will not improve on that. A Crossfire profile cannot overcome game or engine limitations.

BF4 crashing fairly regular... sigh.

Maybe should read a book.

Does the crashing occur in Battlefield 4 with your whole system at stock speeds? I play that game a lot and have not experienced any crashing or stability issues on Mantle.

There was a new Winter patch released a week back, has the crashing started since then?

Oh yeah, everything is currently stock.

The new patch has made the game run wonderfully. Just crashes all the time.

Got a screenshot of the error? I can report it to Dice if it's Mantle related.

I was getting Mantle crashes on the other BIOS on this 295x2.

Swapped to the original BIOS and I've been playing BF4 for hours at 1018/1650mhz -50mv +50% power.

God knows how the Sapphire BIOS were making it crash but they were!

Don't worry, normal 295's will not have that bios.

There's no actual error message when the game crashes? Something like this below.

The generic Battlefield 4 has crashed message is not very useful.

Just hope this next driver cures my problem running 2 monitors. If I power the Pc down and back up again, screens are black with no signal. Monitors 1440p and 1080p. Don't know if it's a refresh conflict or what. No fix in the next drivers and these AMD cards are gone.

Hi George,

Last email from you regarding this issue was dated 13 February 2015 saying you'd reply with the information i asked for so that i could raise your issue. Unfortunately I've not received any further communication from you so assumed your issue was fixed.
