The AMD Driver Thread

I'm getting a different error message when the monitor goes in to sleep mode than before

AMD15_3_DisplayPort_issue.jpg

I seem to be getting a lot of that recently.

More with 290's than 970's, and I think more since the latest driver.

Wish could just set it to ignore and always force 60hz at 3840x2160.

Keep having to turn monitor off and back on.

Guess our monitors must be using non-standard timings.... ;)

On another note, just tried Far Cry 4. You know, seeing it's been out nearly half a year and has a crossfire profile now....

Well, the default mode has frequent hitching, like every few seconds. Even notieceable down on high. And before anyone suggests it, no Gameworks settings were used.

Tried afr friendly, and that was smooth, but flicker central!

Starting to tire very quickly of AMD bull#### now.

They need to get their bloody act together. I may dislike Nvidia immensely as a company, but their products and software work a whole hunch better.

Pretty much every single game I have tried recently has issues. Must be the devs fault....

Not sure where to post this.

While watching say iPlayer ,4od etc I'm getting weird digital like noises. The only way I can describe the noise is the part in Matrix when he swallows the pill and wakes up out of the matrix, it does that digital noise when the camera view goes down hits throat :/

Anyone know what I'm on about, not sure I even do :D

I've rolled back to 14.12 omegas...the new betas were turd for me, was getting artefacts and flickering on all my games. Fine again I'm noway on the previous driver.

AMD need to raise there game big time. I personally think they're already finished, 3 months for a shocking beta drive. plus no news on upcoming 3xxx series cards when Nvidia are there for the taking, is very alarming.

Yeah i agree. AMD do need to step up. But i'm very impatient so it would be nice to hear something, at least a confirmed release, rumors of June? I need to know when to sell this 290x!

As for the drivers, they seem to be no different to what 14.12 was for me. But then again, i'm not using Crossfire.

I'm very alarmed at AMD's silence in the last few months. There was absolutely no reason to delay crossfire support for the sake of a single card freesync driver, unless that is all the amd driver team is equipped to create which is worrying. The more you bundle into a driver (caps, vsr , freesync) the more chance of it going wrong like the multiple users facing artifacts on the latest drivers. Smaller more frequent drivers that stick to deadlines will go a long way to prevent nvidia gaining further market share.

AMD need to be more transparent to its customers and provide some good news, if they have any.

Swwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!! Never has FC4 played so well! I originally beat the game just using single gpu with a couple settings turned down and averaging around 50ish fps @ 1440p... now it just sits at my refresh with vsync on (96hz) with no dips. I'm seriously impressed! I only get about 52% out of my gpu's (3) but that could just be the vsync lock. Only every once in a while will I get a little hitch and it's always after I've been driving a long way, but man if the game launched like this I would have pooped a brick. SO HAPPY! :D

Now time to fight some Yetti's!!!

Matt, I think you need a crossfire thread - one that details games where it works, those that don't, and those that need particular tweaks (and what those tweaks are).

I know you have a crossfire thread of sorts, but perhaps one just dedicated to games would be good.

Ok, I'll see what i can come up with.

Good to hear.

This game seems to really benefit from using Vsync and Triple Buffering, playing very smoothly here as well using the same settings.

Oh, and are you aware of displayport link failure messages as a common thing?

Just got the impression from previous page that a few people may be having this.

Personally hardly ever had any sort of displayport issues with 970's, but since coming back to AMD, they are far more common.

I have tried many, many cables, from cheap to expensive. The one that seems to work best is a cheapy, but even that still has issues.

So lets not just leave it down to a game offering them cough.....cough...;)
Even if a per game profile has to be made first before those options show up just like Crossfire Profiles.
