The AMD Driver Thread

Thief Mantle and BF4 Mantle both suffer from random freezes. It's worse in BF4 though, can't even get to the settings to set it to DX11.

The latest official AMD drivers are the Omega ones, released 12/9/2014.

I think it's wise to assume there have been some changes made during GTA5 PC port development since then, that would affect the drivers.

I highly doubt AMD's Omega drivers will function perfectly for GTA5, though I hope I'm wrong and the 4 month old drivers are fully compatible.

Latest official drivers are actually the 15.3 Beta ones, released on the 20th March. The only difference between Beta drivers and WHQL ones are that Microsoft have tested and certified the WHQL ones, where they haven't certified the Beta drivers. As all these drivers come from AMD, both Beta and WHQL ones are still "official". If they were modified by someone other than AMD (as some people do to allow new drivers to run on older unsupported hardware), then they'd be unofficial.

From a practical point of view, I've never found Beta drivers from either Nvidia or AMD to be any more or less stable than their WHQL releases - and the Beta ones tend to come out sooner due to less delays, so I wouldn't get hung up on the titles and simply always go for the latest.

I'm also hoping GTA 5 performs well on launch day, first game I've pre-ordered in what feels like forever! :D
 
Did I see correctly that AMD has their version of HBAO implemented in GTA V? If so then I'm feeling a bit more confident they actually have worked with Rockstar for this :D
 
What a numpty, i was playing Black Mesa earlier, and when id finished, i just shut afterburner down, instead of resetting my clocks first, so ive spend about 5 hrs on the desktop, with my card running at full whack 1080/1250 :D

Oh I've done this many times! I have mine set to 1130/1550.. I just wondered off for the afternoon/evening while Elder Scrolls was downloading. Doh!

I wondered why i was idling at 62, i popped into the CCC for something, and just happened to go into the Overdrive, and i was like, wtf, thats a bit warm for idle, then i noticed the clocks were locked at full whack :p
 
Is it Tuesday that comes out?

Been waiting for that games release - not because I want to play it, but because I was waiting for drivers to come out along with it - and hoping that the new drivers contain a working Elite Dangerous crossfire profile...

Matt, any updates on ED? I really want to get rid of jaggies in this game!
