The AMD Driver Thread

We will have the best available optimisations in our latest catalyst releases for launching game titles.

I've requested it, when it's ready I'll publish it in the release notes.

So basically it boils down to there is no point in asking about upcoming drivers and progress on game support.

At least I know not waste time asking in future and will just wait and hope for the best :)

I know it's not your fault. But perhaps you could try and get through to someone further up, that communication is a good thing, and that being able to relay information to users would go a long way in managing expectations.

Edit:
Seems to be having far less issues with displayport link failure on Omega drivers.

I always get the display port link failure after the computer is left idle for a while.

On 15.3 it was frequent and random for me. Since going to back to Omega early yesterday, the only one I had was while playing DAI earlier.

That has to be one of the most stable games I think I have played in some time. Even with that it didn't crash. Ran it for hours on end yesterday and not a single crash.

Agree DA:I is solid. Other recent games that should be commended for their coding are Alien: Isolation, Tomb Raider and Elite: Dangerous.

Some of the AAA titles of late have been really shoddy. Particularly ones with Gameworks features.

Regarding displayport failure, it does seem to occur when my monitor goes to sleep.

I always put my PC to sleep and hardly ever shut it down, I have seen a DP link failure maybe 3 or 4 times, has never happened during a game session though. I thought it might have been an eyefinity issue as my panel is tiled but I have no clue.

Agreed all those games have been solid. It makes such a nice difference to a game when things are stable and you can run for hours without an issue.

Yep, Alien Isolation played spot on from day one. Really nice lighting effects and great atmosphere. Awesome game! Tomb Raider was great too, I am kinda annoyed Microsoft have hijacked the new one fox Xbone though.

When it's ready.

Yep, as annoying as answers like this are, tbh guys/gals, when AMD are ready to release, Matt will be one of the first to know and sure he'll post. Other than this, there's no point in asking when they'll be release. I've seen soooo many "when are they going to be released"... and we'll get the same answer.

Obiously Matt has to be careful how he phrases things and can see this in many responses. Is this annoying? Yeah probably to individuals who're holding out for certain aspects whether it's drivers or functionality to enable CF or 144hz gaming or whatever... we're all in the same boat. We want our problem fixing and we want it now.

AMD, quite simply aren't as good or frequent as nVidia in driver optimisations or releases. We know that and deep down both Matt and AMD know this, facts speak for themselves. Forwhatever reason this is, I'm sure Matt and other reps have fed this back to AMD. Whether they'll do anything about this, who knows. However, we all chose AMD because they offer the best VFM the majority of the time... and this is the hit we take. If you don't like it, jump ship... if like me, you'll put up with it great.

I for one am now waiting of CF for Dying Light... is it annoying me? Not really (although I'd love to have all three 290x's pumping this game out as I'm struggling with avg 32-39fps on one 290x... as Matt says, it'll be ready when it's ready. If I'm at a point where I've had enough, I'll jump **** to nVidia... however I'm willing to wait.

1st world problems hey :-)

Pug, use AFR mode and you'll get some scaling.

I'm getting around 80% usage on my 7950s and getting about 90-120fps average and thats at 1440p.

here ya go Pug, quick screenie showing ya

oversized image, 1280X is the maximum width allowed if you do not use spoiler tags - stu.

EDIT * could you not have just just put it in spoiler tags then lol

It was the appropriate way of getting the message across as you've ignored previous attempts to remind you of the rule - Surveyor

I did not ignore the rule, I do not simply choose to be a rebel because it's cool. I simply forgot the maximum screenshot size now I've moved to a bigger monitor. And also for the mod that removed my signature yet again, wasnt the rule 4 lines of text??? well on my screen and on my sig page it was showing as 4 lines. It's been this way for many many months, it's just now someone chooses to be petty

You should be less forgetful and your signature was 6 lines so no one was being petty - Surveyor

Put my old signature back in then, exactly how it was and I'll prove to you it was 4 lines of text, I'll screenshot it and post it here

No. I've explained a) why your image was removed and b) why your signature removed. I'll not enter into further debate - Surveyor
