The AMD Driver Thread

A little bit unfair Firefox, but I do feel your frustration regarding CF profiles. I loved my 295x2 (and I can't even bring myself to sell it yet!!) but I do feel AMD have dropped the ball of late having so little resources stretch to the limit.

I think we'll see them get on top within the next few months, and also have the hardware advantage over nVidia (which tbh, I've never doubted!!) Kickass hardware as always  I always loved ATi :D

They just need a little time to focus I feel, and hopefully it'll all come together soon :)

@Moobert Are you connected via HDMI? If so what you might be seeing is underscan which is applied by default. You need to adjust the scaling slider in CCC (Advanced Mode) located at:

My Digital Flat Panels > Scaling Options

Move the slider to max overscan.

Edit: Scratch that I've just seen your other thread >.<

Don't think it is unfair tbh, I have earned my right to have an opinion having wasted £600 on their hardware, personally I think they need a hell of a lot more than focus, major overhaul is needed if they want to catch Nvidia who must be laughing at the sheer incompetence of AMD lately.

Speaking from experience having just sold my 295 X2, never again AMD, words cannot describe my disappointment, AMD care nothing about their customers, they prove this time and time again, no communication from them regarding drivers, even months after top titles are released still no CF profiles.

It's a shame as the 295 X2 is a fantastic card but unfortunately does not have any proper support despite it being their current flagship card. Crazy really!!

This is not a dig at Matt, I think he does a stand up job. I am simply venting my frustration having spent my hard earned pennies on this card for AMD to turn around and say

Sadly have to agree here, Nvidia at least have a dedicated forum where you can air your problems and the devs/driver teams can see what people want/need fixed and then release new drivers quickly for new games/bug fixes not forgetting to mention bringing new things out like Shadowplay, MFAA etc...

AMD's version of Shadowplay, Raptr, Is so low quality and buggy I hated using it for gameplay videos with my 295X2.

AMD need to step up their game on the driver team, Release schedule and customer relations side of things, Start making a proper dedicated forum not a totally broke one like they have now.

If they did that they would be a perfect company in my eyes.

Same experience with the 295x2, it's probably the best built card I've ever owned but when I started trying more and more games on it I was just disappointed to see sometimes single card performance in games, tried using AFR profiles and what not but the scaling still wasn't great and it would cause texture flickering or shimmering in some titles.

If every game ran like it played on BF4 I would have probably kept it for years!

Exactly why I sold my 295X2 and moved over to just using my 980, Obviously a bit of a downgrade in terms of sheer performance when crossfire worked properly but I just couldn't be bothered with the lack of driver crossfire support and the constant fiddling about anymore.

Fair enough man, you've paid for that opinion ;) :D

Totally agree, from a hardware build point of view the 295X2 was almost flawless, its a crying shame the way AMD have not put any effort into supporting it driver wise.

I seriously doubt thery will catch Nvidia now, and even if they were to shock the industry anf release a card twice as quick as the titan X at half the cost, what is the point if the basic driver support is not in place??

I for one will not be suckered in again

To be fair their drivers are just as good as nVidia for single card. I still won't be in a hurry to go back to them though, probably skip the 390x and wait for the die shrink cards at the end of this year or next.

I'll be getting AMD's next top tier single GPU card for sure BUT only if it can match the Titan X which hopefully it should seeing as the Titan X is only really 30%'ish faster than a 980 anyway.

You say that but from my reading the driver in the 15.3 release is the same as the omega driver released in October with a few crossfire profiles added and freesync added.

No single card improvements/optimisations for any games released since December!

Unfortnatly I agree after using a 7990 for a good year then moving to 980s after my 7990 died nvidia supports seems much better no longer do I have to mess about with what use x profile with x game. Its not perfect but profiles seem to be their faster.

Amd let's it self down in the following areas for me
Crossfire profiles
Raptor app think the features are decent implementation for recording is meh at best
Get into a it "just works attitude" not do this and this to get acceptable result
Customer relations from the people at the top maybe they should stop playing bf4 and do some work :p

But most of all and give us loads of bull about them supporting open source and their Linux driver is terrible beyond belief. To the fact even if I wanted a and card I can't.. For context a 750ti is on par with a 290x in games..

Don't get me wrong nvidia needs toGet
sli + DSR + GSYNC to work... Together
Geforce app to have have GUI overhaul as it feels so flash laggy but the features"just work".

Might have issues with spelling as on a tablet

Yup, the driver was kept back, until Fressync monitors were released, now what a couple of monitors being released has to do with Xfire profiles, game fixes, bug fixes, optimizations, **** knows. :p

Also, its the same D3D driver etc... thats in the Omega driver.

Why they couldn't release the drivers around 4 months ago, with just the Xfire profiles added, and no Freesync part, **** knows to that to, as then when the Fresync monitors were released, they could have just released the driver again, with the Freesync part added as well (as they've done it before, released a driver, then about a week odd later, released it again, with what they've also done in that week or so added), but keeping everyone waiting for their graphics card drivers until a couple of monitors were released, was absolutely terrible, that just shows how much they care for their graphics card owners, they just couldn't give a flying **** about em!.

Been people screaming for nigh on 4 months for Xfire profiles, so they could use both their cards (or however many they have) in the latest games, and they've just turned around and said, '**** YOU!, you have to wait until these monitors are released!, you can have your Xfire profiles then, and not before!.

Who ever decided to do that, should be sacked!.

Alternatively of course it might have taken them 4 months to make the Xfire profiles....as mostly it is 'the software publishers fault' for them not working :p

AMD need the 390 to hit the ground running and that means the drivers need to be flawless or near as possible so I can understand the current situation to a point.
The 390 is going to be the most important cards that AMD have ever released.

Question for AMDMatt

What happened to the performance in the Bowling simulator last night
