The AMD Driver Thread

Hi Superpatsy I have exactly the same issue, so running without MSAA at the moment. No biggy, as I want 60fps and FXAA is enough for me at 1080p. I am also getting a few nasty stutters when driving but that is probably my 4gb system ram.

Win7 64, I5 2500k 4.2ghz, 4gb ram, R9 280X.

Make sure you have enough pagefile memory allotted since you don't have nearly enough ram. In game I'm hitting right about 7gb ram usage and it still attempts to use a decent amount of pagefile.

These open world games are like this. You gotta step your ram game up son! :D

As above, 4GB RAM is no longer enough, this is why its stuttering, you need 8GB these days.

Are you running in full screen mode and are both gpu clocks correctly locked at full 3D clock speeds? Use my thread here to setup an overlay, if you haven't already.

Assuming you have an overlay enabled Afterburner doubles the video memory usage once you have Crossfire, so basically halve whatever it says the video memory usage is and you have your actual video memory usage.

I have QuadFire and working out the video memory usage often required a calculator. :D :o :p
Hi Matt, thanks for the reply. Yes i'm using the overlay, that would explain the reported VRAM usage. I've tried those settings and disabling ULPS has helped a bit. I'm in full screen and both the cards are fixed at the correct 3D clocks.

The GPU usage is still around 45-60% on each card with crossfire enabled, is there anything I can do to increase their utilization? There is no vsync or frame limiting enabled. I have an i7-4790k @ 4.7GHz and 16GB RAM, CPU usage is around 70% when in game.

It runs much better with just one card so I will use that for now.

4K Monitor, popping and flickering like no tomorrow. Latest beta drivers. Tried two DP cables. I'm probably going need to find a more expensive cable, i've no idea what to look for in DP, vesa certified etc.. ?

1440p on HDMI is fine.

Montior is the aoc u2868pqu.

Hi, have the same monitor, on Omega drivers with the original Aoc supplied DP cable runs everything so far at 60Hz, no flickering or popping on the games I play, Far Cry 4, Alien Isolation. :)

Try it at stock to see if it still occurs.

With everything stock my (default optimized motherboard settings) and cards also at stock the PC doesn't shut down, just goes to a black screen but the machine remains powered. Only a hard reset turns the machine off.

With drivers removed or previous drivers installed the machine turns off no problems when at stock or overclocked.

Cheers

Installed the beta drivers earlier. So far no problems but only tried them in Dying Light, H1Z1 and CS:Source. That said I didn't have any issues with the omega drivers I just wanted to try them out of interest. Not sure if I've noticed any real difference yet.

Still have a weird glitch when I first turn computer on during POST but think that is more do to with the HDMI to VGA adapter I'm using.

Also, just tried on a new install on a spare SSD and the same problem exist. So I think I can safely rule out overclock or windows install as problems.

I have to say the GTA5 drivers from AMD are fantastic - glad to see AMD got the drivers out in time and they performed so well.

Also quite amusing to see the 295X beat the Titan X at the higher resolutions, when you consider it's HALF the price!

Can only imagine how amazing the 390 series GPU's will be from AMD :D

Not sure if this is normal but my 7990 doesn't seem to be 100% optimised according to AIDA64 in GTA V.

It ranges between 50 and 95% on each core, shouldn't it be close to 100% all of the time?

FPS ranges between 50 - 80

I have installed the latest AMD drivers too (15.4)

Yea same here too. It's nice being back on mantle with trifire and having the green line above the yellow line again. I should test DA:I too.

DAI runs wonderfully. On three cards have completely maxed the settings at 4k and it hovers around 40-45 fps with occasional drips into 30's, with vram usage around 6gb.

Very smooth. Credit to Amd on this one as could never get it running nicely on 970 sli.

Dying light, exactly the same fps, 30-40fps... that's a complete removal using ATiMan as I usually do, and a fresh install of 15.4's... it's made absolutely no difference. Can anyone else just see if in crossfire they're getting decent fps? Graphical glitches gone but it's still running poorly on my rig?
