The AMD Driver Thread

Using 2x HD7850 2GB. In Dying Light single gpu performance has improved somewhat since release, but crossfire isn't scaling at all for me using 15.4 either. Awesome drivers for GTA V though!

Matt I noticed something odd last night.
While playing Mortal combat X gpu clock is all over the place from 850mhz to 1150 and cause of that fps is all over ther place. Its stable 60 and then drops to 40 cause clock drops.

Not sure if its game or driver issue just pointing it out.

btw. In benchmarks 1150 all the time. OFC new drivers ect

update typical new game ****up ...

Would you be able to help me AMDMatt?

Is this during the benchmark sequence or whilst playing the game? I would recommend increasing the graphics settings, like AA, this will place more load on the gpu and bring the usage up. It's about

As long as performance is good and the game is smooth, i would not worry too much.

Noted, thanks.

I downloaded and installed these last night, and I have to say I've not noticed much of a difference over the 14.2 Omega Drivers, but on my setup the game ran and still runs Super Smooth anyway.
For the record I've got my graphics settings maxed out apart from 'MSAA' which is set to off, as is 'Reflection MSAA' and I've got Soft Shadows set to AMD CHS.
I've also got the 'Advanced Graphics' options set to off, but am getting a constant 55+ FPS and that's even in the grassy, hilly, Mountains. To say I'm chuffed is an understatement, and to think I even bought an additional 7970 Matrix Platinum to max this game (I've not even installed it yet, lol).
Well done AMD on some awesome Graphics Drivers and also to Rock* for a superbly optimized game :D

Thank you for the kind words. We're not going to rest on our laurels though and we'll keep trying to improve our existing performance in GTA V in future drivers.

Matt, I have a question, which I think's already been answered if I'm honest, but if I turn MSAA 'On' (no matter whether it's 2x, 4x or 8x) it causes some on screen glitching/corruption, as in some sort of snowy square blocks appear in the bottom right corner of the screen (obviously this isn't meant to be there), so I simply run with MSAA off.
I know you'll be working on trying to fix this but is this something that many others have reported, and is there a reason for this (running out of VRAM etc, as I'm aware my 7970 is only a 3gb card, but GTAV reports it's using under 3gb anyway.

Yes, we're aware of the issue. Not sure yet if it's a game or driver issue, we're investigating at the moment. If we're at fault, of course we'll fix this as soon as possible. :)

Matt, I feel a bit guilty after posting my last post to be honest, as I'm extremely impressed that a game that looks this good runs so well on my machine. You guys have done an outstanding job on the drivers.
I was convinced I'd need another graphics card in order to get anywhere near 60FPS with max/very high settings, so convinced in fact I bought another GPU.
I can't wait for the weekend when I'm going to be installing my 2nd card and see if I can add some of the Advanced Graphics settings into the mix (if I've got enough VRAM of course :p
Keep up the superb work Matt :)

No need to feel guilty, the strive for perfection is never complete as far as drivers are concerned. However i think we can agree we've taken a small step towards it. :)

I've reported this issue, thanks Rick.

We decided to enable Crossfire in 15.4 for our customers in this title, but as you know we're still hopeful that Techland will release a patch to correct the unfriendly surfaces that are impacting our Crossfire performance in this title.

Awesome, thanks Matt. Other than that these drivers are rock solid! Oh and I saw there is a profile for Dirt 4, I didn't even know Dirt 4 was coming?! :D

Having more issues with the driver.

Been playing GTA V over the past couple of days and I've just noticed now that it keeps downclocking my card as if they are thermal throttling, which they aren't. The temps have been nudging 50C which is obviously a country mile under the throttle.

I'm tracking this issue, as i saw Gerard mention it with his 295x2. Is this whilst you play the game, or does it just occur during the benchmark sequence?

I've not noticed it during gameplay because I don't have my GPU speeds in my overlay. I'll report back when I actually get the game to start working again.

I only ran the benchmark when I first loaded the game up and haven't used it since.

It may be a while before I can report back. The game isn't even loading for me anymore...

Try disabling any overlays you have running before you launch the game. I found Afterburner causing issues early doors. Verify steam files. That's all I've got I'm afraid.
