Matt, could this be a driver issue?

Not sure what's happening to my shadows, but if you can imagine, when I move my character, this defined area moves with me. It's almost like I have a 20 foot box around me, inside that box the shadows are rendered correctly, but outside that box, they are what you can see in the pic below. It hasn't been doing this the past 4 or 5 days, its just something that has started now. I've tried reinstalling latest drivers, using default graphic settings in game but nothing sorts this issue out. Its so annoying. I'm running Very High on all settings, I've tried MSAA, FXAA and restored defaults. I verified game integrity in Steam, messed with CCC but nothing cures it. Anyone have any ideas? I cant record it because every time I try recording game footage with Afterburner, my game crashes. DXTory is a no go as well. The only thing I've not done now, is uninstall and reinstall but that's the last thing I wanna do at 60GB

unlikely, ive seen on nvidia only happened for about 3 minutes after alt+tabbing if i alt+tab a lot i see it. then it goes away

when i mean a lot like 50 times.

ive seen gta also use 10GB of system ram too :p

my AB works fine (display not record) with GTA if i see it ill record it for you with shadowplay

Anyone notice their GPU usage dropping, sometimes even in busy areas it drop to 40% and when its low on the map screen if it goes low the map is really stuttery.
I have MSI 290x by the way on 120hz monitor
 
Yep noticed that sometimes, like there is a bottleneck but GPU + CPU usage is low, I'm on an SSD as well so and not travelling mega fast like it needs to stream data from the drive or anything.

Seems worse since the patch yesterday.

yeah same, get low gpu usage in places and cpu usage isnt exactly maxed out either
 
Anyone here on GTAV with a 4670k + 290

Wondering what settings you run for good looks and good performance as I can't get the right balance

Advanced settings just seem to hammer FPS

I have to play with MSAA on otherwise the game looks **** I think
 
Personally playing with FXAA on and downsampled from 1440p to my native 1080p using DSR. Find it the best compromise as MSAA is a total resource hog on this game.
