The AMD Driver Thread

Matt any recommendations on what to do with GTA 5 and vsync for a single 290 i.e. just use in game or better to use some config with radeon pro?

I use Vsync without issue without RadeonPro, it smooths things out a bit. Might be worth capping 1-5fps below the vsync limit for even smoother performance.

Just give a bit of FarCry4 feedback on the latest driver

CF works very well on FarCry4, it is very smooth and do not have noticeable tearing when I free the tower.

ULTRA + 2x MSAA -> over 60fps in most area
only small shutters (last for like 1 to 2 seconds) in certain areas but it doesnt really affect overall experience.

I have only played it for 4 hours and havent experience any artifacts yet, and that is pretty impressive for Ubisoft.

Was this on the latest patch?

Don't know whether to apply latest patch or not as past history with Ubi patches are anything to go by.

ive not heard anything Pete no :(

Until AMD do something about Unix I cannot buy them.... even if I wanted to. I cannot support a company that does not support what I need :(

for matt
wanted to point out this

Reviewer using a Trixx 8GB card (of course pre-overclocked) quite a lot of crashing. Could be why some people are seeing lot crashing on AMD? maybe their oc is just not that solid

Thought you should know as if reviewers are showing this It wont help the AMD Cause & may help AMD Driver team

BF4 is Crashing constantly, every 5 to 10 minutes without fail, impossible to finish a round.

I backed off my overclock ^^^^ not crashed since. played it for 2 hours straight last night.

I have actually gone the other way now, i put it back to out of the box clocks 1050/1350 and started undervolting it, -19mv so far and its running at 58c with 45% fan speed, my XFX PSU fan is louder, the 'Almost silence' is quite nice :)

Is anything else on the system overclocked, if so does it occur with everything at stock?

Yeah my 3770K is at 4.6Ghz. I'll back it off and see if that fixes it. CPU has been rock solid at this speed for the month or so since I've had it, but I'll give it a go and will report back tonight.

Any profile to fix the artefacts that appear on the bottom right hand corner of the screen in gta 5? Turning off MSAA fixes it. I am running the beta drivers at the moment.

Running everything maxed out except MSAA is off.

Thanks.

Specs in signature if it helps.

Got an annoying problem the only seems to be getting worse. Since buying my R9 290 my screen will randomly go black but if I have a song playing in background it will still be playing so I know computer hasn't froze. It can happen randomly whenever I'm browsing the web but never when gaming. Have to restart to get display back. I do get a weird glitch on my screen during POST.

It could be the HDMI to VGA adapter I'm having to use since my monitor doesn't support DVI or HDMI. Got a DVI to VGA adapter arriving in post tomorrow so will see if that solves the problem. If not it has to be a driver/hardware issue as I used an adapter on my previous card with was an Nvidia one and never had any a problem like this.

Generally I find the same thing with a GPU benchmark like that, 3Dmark (the one on steam OS currently)

Firestrike benchmark gave me a different score every single time!!

I think its due to whatever windows feels like doing at the current time in the background processes?! ...

Just random **** occuring on your computer at different intervals...

I got the acheivement "Your GPU is ready to rumble, but your CPU doesn't want to play." .... :( 290X CrossFireX !!!

Just started playing GTA 5 for the first time and i'm getting some really weird artifacting despite having my card running at stock clocks, good temps etc., also on the latest 15.4 drivers.

Anyone have any ideas?
