The AMD Driver Thread

Interestingly 2560x1440 seems to keep stock clocks at 0 power limit for gta v. 4k still has the issues with the clocks bouncing around, more so on gpu 2 today..

Guys, I believe the 15.4 affect TESO hitting it pretty hard and losing around 10fps. Anyone else plays the game and is experiencing this issue?

I will confirm tomorrow when I put 15.3

(I have custom profile and only using 1 GPU)

Great video here showing the scaling for 1,2,3, and 4 cards:

Seems to have it spot on. I think the guy says he's on 15.3 drivers, so maybe there's still more to come, but either way it seems there is finally a game that has it nailed. My cards will be taking a roasting this weekend :D

(I'd play today, but there's still 26 hours of downloading left. Dam you none cable area!)

Going through the settings, it seems that one or all of the advanced settings could be to blame for the clocks dipping, was in the game with +15 on the power management and didn't see it drop the clocks, and that was with all the advanced options set to off (long shadows hi res shadows hi res streaming while flying, and the ext distance scaling and extended shadows sliders to zero). Gonna check with power on default to see what happens. Strangely enough i didn't see much in the way of fps improvement, though i did notice that the cores got hotter as the clocks weren't bouncing around

Could it be a CPU limitation? if the CPU can't keep pace the GPU will slow and wait.

Not sure, others are seeing the same thing, definately one or multiples of the advanced settings causing the issue. I just enabled the explosive fists cheat and went nuts battering cops for 15 mins and the clocks seemed rock solid despite the explosions going off constantly.

Seems to be the extended distance scaling option that does it, was running around with no probs, enabled that and turned the slider up and the clocks started to fluctuate, seems to be one of those options you need to restart the game to disable again as when turning it off ingame the clocks still fluctuated a bit.

picked up another 7950 yesterday, does anyone know how it plays on 7950's

Playing at 1440p with a couple of 7950's, performance is great. Have them clocked at 1100/6000. Running very high settings for all the options, with 2xmsaa and hitting around 90fps average with dips to 70's in extreme weather conditions. it plays absolutely lovely.

I'm running 3 watercooled 290's and seeing between 40 and 60% usage. 15.4 drivers, 1080p downsampled from 1440x2560 on a 60hz monitor, MSAA at 2x, most other bits maxed / close to max.

FPS in GTA V is very varied, sometime going down to 40fps. Doesn't seem right to me given what performance I am seeing others appear to be getting.

Tried with vsync on and off. Anything else I can try?

Turn HQ Shadows off and lower extended shadow distance seems to help.

Matt, I'm still having issues with the corruption in the bottom right-hand corner. The problems in the video have disappeared. Also seen another person in the official GTA thread with the same issue.

Does disabling AA (normal and reflective) solve the issue?

MSAA appears to be the culprit. Disabled all AA and it disappeared. Enabled FXAA and reflection AA and it stayed away. Enabled MSAA and it came back.

Do we have any 7870XT users on this forum suffering from this issue?

Matt, yes it's only ever in the bottom right corner of the screen, and it's only there when I have MSAA on (this is with 2x, but it's exactly the same with 4x, or 8x). I can drive around, run, swim, die lol, and it's constantly there, although it does change slightly depending on the background (but only ever in this location on the screen)... See Screenshot :)

When you have msaa on turn postfx quality from very high to high or normal and its fixed.
