MSAA causes it. Turn it off and it should disappear.
Wont that mean greatly reduced gfx though? I thought MSAA pretty important to have on.

I use Vsync without issue without RadeonPro, it smooths things out a bit. Might be worth capping 1-5fps below the vsync limit for even smoother performance.
Leave msaa on and turn down postfx to high or normal, the artifacting should be gone.
Why do ccc gaming settings hardly ever work in games? I cant apply vsync in GTA5 via catalyst and we still dont have the options like adaptive which nvidia have had for ages. Right now I have to play with vsync off. i could get radeonpro to work but its vsync was no better than ingame, though usually rpro works great for me at keeping things smooth.

Ok thanks.
Just messing around with MSI afterburner now, could you post your settings for the monitoring tab/section please.
Also, should I bother with a fan profile for my MSI 290 twin frzr? Max temps it goes to is about 80 with a fan speed of about 50-60%
Got an annoying problem the only seems to be getting worse. Since buying my R9 290 my screen will randomly go black but if I have a song playing in background it will still be playing so I know computer hasn't froze. It can happen randomly whenever I'm browsing the web but never when gaming. Have to restart to get display back. I do get a weird glitch on my screen during POST.
It could be the HDMI to VGA adapter I'm having to use since my monitor doesn't support DVI or HDMI. Got a DVI to VGA adapter arriving in post tomorrow so will see if that solves the problem. If not it has to be a driver/hardware issue as I used an adapter on my previous card with was an Nvidia one and never had any a problem like this.

290 doesn't support vga iirc, that could be why.
Since its late and i cant ask OCUK bods will the RMA be handled by them or will I have to go to HIS directly?
Do you not have a TV or something you could use in the mean time until you can afford a new monitor? There's some pretty cheap monitors on OcUk as a stop gap?
