The AMD Driver Thread

The issue with 3DMark in crossfire is still causing me problems. First card refuses to go above 850Mhz, it only does that in 3DMark.

Temps never go above 70C on either card. It's been doing for as long as i've been using these cards, sometimes the card will clock correctly. It's become worse with the latest drivers where it will never clock above 850Mhz no matter what.

Any updates on this problem Matt? Would love to bench my new 4790k with my cards but it seems to be hampering the result i get by quite a bit.

I didn't comment on the GTA V profile prior to it's launch and i won't be doing that with the Witcher 3 either. All i will say is we always try to have the best available Crossfire Optimisations in the biggest titles, ready for launch.
e.

Or, in some cases, half a year later (tbc)

I'm sorry but who comes up with these draconian policies? Isn't it in the best interest of AMD to make sure their customers know AMD has their back when it comes to crossfire profiles? The "it'll be ready when it's ready" crap needs to stop too. I know you are bound by what AMD says but the communication regarding profiles needs to step up, we just want to know that we can play our games the day they are released! That's all!

Here's an example: Elite: Dangerous - Released December 16, 2014, still no crossfire profile. (Nearly 5 months)

"It'll be ready when it's ready" or "We can't comment on it" - Sorry AMD, but that's not good enough.

Just tried this...helps enormously!! Cannot quantify as yet..will run some kind of fraps and see what the difference is...but is is definitely substantial in Win 7!

Just tried this again...cheekily before work!

Using FRAPS....actually pcars64 is averaging 1.5 fps more than just pcars.exe

Too good to be true :(

Although your right in what you say, so is shankly, go hound the driver team on Twitter as I'd imagine Matt can only relay driver information he's permitted to and therefore not allowed to post hints on future drivers or eta's on fixes.

The driver team do need to help Matt on this, he is the face (without makeup for once) of amd on this and other forums, as such takes the flak for having his hands tied over some information he can't divulge.

Matt is payed to be the front man, it's his job to take the flak and be the middle man between the driver team and paying public.

I do have some sympathy though, job cuts over recent years will have left AMD's driver team decimated and he's probably just been employed to make AMD seem more active than they really are.

I know this is a long shot but has anyone tried GTA V on Windows 10? I did the swap last night to give it ago and a few games seem fine and GTA V is also fine when running about pew pewing people but as soon as you move above 30mph in a car the performance drops 80-90% down to 10-20 fps! I'm guessing this is a texture streaming issue or something of the like?

I'm just wondering if anyone has seen similar issues or if there is a commonly known fix etc.

Just a heads up for peeps using Windows 10 and GTA V. I resolved this yesterday by installing the 15.4 beta drivers over the Windows 10 beta ones :)

Anyone else having 4k issues with screen going black fir 1/2 seconds. Only happens on the 4k the 1080p stays on.

Didnt do it on my 980 so know it must be a driver issue.

Ever thought for one minute the reason they is no Crossfire support for that game is something else other than driver?

Little read on there official forum it would seem crossfire did used to work. This guy saying it was working great on 14.12 but patch 1.07 broke it..
So I'll ask again are you Barking up the wrong tree.

As i said on the previous page, we're working together with the dev to resolve the problems that have appeared since the final build of the game launched. In the beta build things were performing normally, but now that's not the case. I don't know why that is, or what has changed, but we're working on it.

The developers have categorically stated that they had zero contact from AMD since October last year. things change a lot in six months.

I appreciate it's not Matt's fault and he has to do what he's told, but not being able to tell us anything about upcoming AMD work makes me wonder what he brings to the forum as a rep sometimes.
Before he was a rep he used to let everyone know when new drivers were released and link to interesting news articles. He also used to try to help AMD users whenever possible.
I can understand why Matt took a job that paid him to do what he was doing anyway, i'm just not sure that we've gained much.

Unfortunately I think the expectation was that he'd be able to tell us 'inside' information and be a more direct line to AMD than having to read articles that may or may not be true.

Hopefully he is now able to feedback to AMD more effectively.

So, yeah, it's frustrating, but I don't think it's Matt's fault. So let's just be sure to aim angry comments (about things not being good enough) at AMD rather than Matt. Maybe he can then feed that back :-)

My friend plays this with SLI and hasn't reported that SLI has stopped working (although I've not specifiecally asked him). So it seems multi-GPU is working in the game. Unless SLI has stopped working?

Tried different dp cables? They can be fickle things even to the extent of one working on one card but not another.

Crossfire never worked been playing over year the confusion lies in the fact that crossfire has been fixed and broken several times graphically. You could run crossfire but get absolutely no FPS gain infact its better on 1 card.

Nvidia have provided several SLI profiles and because of that sadly myself and at least 6 of my Elite buddys have gone over to Nvidia.
