The AMD Driver Thread

They have both gone very quiet.

I asked like 3 times now if they are planning on working on Ark: Survival Evolved drivers, absolutely no reply. Meanwhile NVIDIA are actively optimizing their drivers for this game.

:(

Don't have ark so don't know on that .

Think Joe visits once in a blue moon , maybe we scare him  ;)

Their real quiet on the Vulkan front too unlike NV. Was kinda hopping that AMD would lead the way so to speak with Vulkan on *nix but.....

Why do people think every game released needs a driver? Single GPU most the work is on the Developer to optimise the game..

AMD comes in when Crossfire profile is needed or a setting needs tweaking like Tessellation.. etc

A driver isn't always the answer guys! Take note of the driver release notes from past couple years and you see most of whats new is either a feature or aimed at crossfire... Single GPU optimization very really happens driver side.

About Nvidia releasing drivers! They have too because the game is running Gameworks, So because of this they optimizing these features driver side that's the reason you see Nvidia driver.

Has anyone tried Far Cry 4 with Crossfire lately?

I hadn't played it in ages, so I don't know if it is a game patch or OS or driver problem, but tried to play co-op with someone today and the game is a flickering mess with messed up textures. It used to work fine a few months ago.

All other games play fine with no artifacts. The problem goes away with crossfire disabled for the game, but it obviously runs a lot slower (I must change these HD7850s sometime).

Game version: 1.10.0, OS: Windows 10, Driver: 15.7.1 (15.20.1062.1004), GPUs: 2x HD7850 2GB

Same here.....was fine until I updated to windows 10 and the latest amd drivers now its unplayable due to colour glitches etc.
Hoping it will be a quick fix I was loving the game!

I just tested it and it indeed has flicker in crossfire in Windows 10. It was fine in Windows 7.

The flicker is minimal when vsync is on but as soon as you turn it off it's pretty bad.

One positive is that the game feels super smooth and has around 15-20% higher fps in Windows 10. On release I was getting max of about 70fps but now after patches and driver updates it's hovering between 90-102 fps

People with Freesync need some input..

CSGO on Windows 10 don't work with Freesync and am 100% sure it did on Windows 8.1

AMDMatt is saying this is expected behavior because its a DirectX 9 title meaning all DX9 games wont work with FreeSync..

This is very wrong! I have tested so far Dirty Bomb and Red Orchestra 2 both DX9 games on Single GPU and FreeSync works fine..

Matt is getting his information from the release notes of 15.7
AMD FreeSync™ and AMD CrossFire™ Support
AMD FreeSync™ and AMD CrossFire™ can now be used together in applications using DirectX® 10 or higher

Now I have always believed this was for Crossfire only, so for you guys to test this can you test booth Crossfire and Single GPU on dx9 games..

Yep, its Xfire only where FreeSync only works in DX10 and above, its single cards that can do it in DX9 as well, tested myself on Win7.

Does anybody use Eyefinity with their monitors set to portrait rather than landscape?

I do, for a resolution of 3240x1920 but i'm having difficulty since upgrading to Windows 10 using the latest official AMD 15.7 drivers.

The problem is that the mouse cursor seems to think that my monitors are still in landscape mode so the axis is all reversed. Both 15.7 and the ones downloaded from Windows Update exhibit this behaviour. Reverting back to the 14.12 drivers seems to fix it but it also rolls DirectX back to 11.2.

There are few other reports of this bug so it musn't be very common to use Eyefinity in portrait mode.

Edit - best i could find https://community.amd.com/thread/184692

Yeah just has I thought, I have tested a selection DX9 games now and only Source games seem to be effected..

He now looking into this..
Something has changed with Source Engines games and Windows 10 + freesync none them work with it anymore.

I use a portrait + landscape + portrait setup and have no issues with cursor orientation with a 380. What card you using? (I have issues with the cursor not being on top in full screen mode though).

Also.. have you REALLY upgraded to the most recent drivers, or has windows reverted it, as you may not have disabled automatic driver updates?

ARK gets a DX12 patch on friday so that may give you a nice boost.
