The AMD Driver Thread

I've already relayed some of the most common requests for new features, but if you have any contributions here would be a good place to post them. ;)

The recording tool by AMD and not 3rd party..its like top notch request everywhere

Amd is looking in this ''request'' thread for sure?

Enjoy, it was tough keeping some of these new features a secret Lol. :p

For me the most exciting new features are borderless/windowed FreeSync and Wattman/voltage control for my Pro Duo's. :)

Just wondering does Wattman offer better OC ability on Fury than Afterburner?

OC ability won't change. It's possible to use more voltage with Afterburner, though this shouldn't come as a surprise and AB will still appeal to extreme overclockers more than Wattman.

GCN 1.1 and newer GPUs have 7 clock/voltage states and Wattman allows you to set each one independently, allowing more 'fine tuning'. Afterburner applies a global change and so any voltage increase/decrease is applied to each state. For example, you add +50mv in AB and it gets applied to idle voltage too.

Can anyone see colour settings? I liked to turn saturation up in some games to really make colours vivid. Cant open the old catalyst control centre anymore

Radeon Settings > Display > Display Color. Cycle through until you find it.

Right folks, my work here is done. Time for me to Radeon and Chill.

Excellent joke and no one even batted an eye lid, i guess it's all about Crimson ReLive.

Anyone else having a problem with crossfire not working on these new drivers on RE7?

There's a profile in Crimson 17.1.1, so use that. Unfortunately the game engine is not favourable towards MGPU, despite excellent scaling with up to x2 GPUs. We decided to remove the profile in 17.1.2 as we discovered some subtle flickering issues inside the house when turning sharply. We're currently exploring if this is something that can be fixed driver side rather than game side and if it can, we'll reintroduce it in a future driver.

I messed around with it so much i managed to get the card stuck in 2D mode, had to reinstall drivers to get them to work again...

I would stop using MSI AB and Trixxx for clock speed/voltage adjustment. These applications have not been updated since Wattman arrived and they tend to cause more issues than they are worth. Use them for OSD and monitoring, but for everything else use Wattman.

Perhaps a silly question, but i assume you've set Power Limit in Wattman at +50%?

Matt, when Wattman will support VRAM overclocking on the Nano?
Until then MSI AB is the only app supporting it......

Never. Memory overclocking has always been locked down from our side, it was only third party applications that allowed HBM overclocking. You'll need to wait for those applications to be updated to support Wattman.

I don't seem to have Wattman. Did I have to select to install the ****y ReLive bloat?

Are you still using 290's? Wattman might only be available for the 300 series and newer GPUs. You can use Relive though.

Holy Jesus Balls!! I just tried using 'You Watt Man?' for the first time tonight and I must say it's a *total* cluster**** on the usabilty front! Probably the most unintuitive program I've used *ever* !!!

Sheesh

It's pretty simple and a lot of fun fine tuning every GPU clock state/voltage setting. What are you have trouble with mate?

My settings for my master GPU below. Fine tuned clocks/voltage for every clock state, knocking 30 watts off power draw under full load. Default voltage on clock state 7 is 1.231v.

Sorry Matt, I'd had a few :D I should have just Googled it!! Thanks for the info, I'm too used to sliders ;)

Also, Can I ask while I'm at it - You know the Pro Duo, with the chips being on the same card does it cut down on the Crossfire latencies? With the recent pricedrop I'm half considering one...

thanks

I don't think it makes much difference, as there is a PLX chip on the PCB similar to what you find in Motherboards that feature x4 PCI-E lanes.

Same problem here too. Damn shame, good program! Had the same issue with AB too, hence me trying Wattman.

Matt, is this a known problem?

edit - Uninstalling Afterburner made it work for me.

Nope, still seems to be happening but not with everything. Weird.

Certain things are switching back to 'Automatic' - Voltage, Temp and Speed.

MSI AB has a setting that removes settings on startup, sounds like that's causing what you have described. Even with MSI AB removed, you might need to DDU and do a clean install.

Ok man thanks, will do.

That said, my fan settings reset to default too. I'll have to check to see whether that's expected, there might be a safety reason why it resets to default on bootup. All other settings are saved though, clock/voltage/power limit/temp targets.
