The AMD Driver Thread

Is the recording software not compatible with the r9 290? I don't have it

Yes it is compatible. When you install Crimson 17.2.1 ( i recommend using the latest driver as it fixed a couple of bugs with Relive) select a custom install and click next and at the end it should prompt you if you want to install Relive or restart. Select Relive, let it install, then restart. Then you need to enable Relive in Radeon Software. It's under the section called Relive, you can't miss it.

I hope someone can help, this is enough to make me drink... oh wait to late..

I fitted an XFX RX480 GTR black edition earlier. Forgot to unplug the ethernet. turned the pc on went to get a coffee, came back and found windows had installed an older version of the driver and software.

Downloaded the newer version, uninstalled the windows 10 provided version, rebooted installed the newer version driver and software, seemed to install fine, rebooted go to open up the radeon settings and it says that it can't find any AMD hardware.

Have tried DDU in safe mode and then tried to reinstall, but now is moans about ati radeon driver is unsigned.
So rebooted with the driver signature enforcement disabled, but the same message comes up about the driver being unsigned.

The bios isn't completely up to date, weather that makes any difference. I'll try it with a newer release tomorrow.

ATM I've gotten the windows provided software and driver which seems to work fine, it may just be I'm updating for the sake of it, but it's bugging me why it won't work.

Anyone any ideas?

Known bug, just use an earlier driver for now. We're on it.

@AMDMatt

Are you aware of the 1603 Driver install issue? My GPU has been rendered useless because I cant install any drivers for it, looks like the only fix is to reinstall Windows, surely AMD dont expect people to do this every time they attempt to update their GPU driver, is AMD doing anything about it?

Thanks

Yep we're investigating this one.

Try manually uninstalling Visual C+ 2015 from Add/Remove Programs then DDU then reinstall latest drivers.

Happens without the fps counter on screen I know this because I can see the display flicker.
Using radeonpro here. Never once in any game had fps counter mess with freesync. I use steam, uplay, action, radeonpro

Does it happen without Radeon Pro running? Restart system and ensure the Radeonpro service is not running in the background. Only had one report of this so far and it's from you mate.

@AMDMatt - the Report AMD Driver Bug link isn't working.

Also, are you getting many reports of Player Unknown's Battlegrounds crashing on RX 480 cards? I simply can't get mine to run stably.

Are there any resources you can point me toward?

On 17.4.1? I'll check it out.

Not seen any reports, but that game is not released and buggy/unoptimised from what I've heard.

We're aware thanks folks. Someone will be sentenced to 30 whips for this misdemeanour!

EDIT Just to be clear, this is a joke. We'll rectify this glitch in the file name.

Can you whip somebody at Microsoft for me aswell please.. getting sick of them choosing which AMD drivers i need installed, and i even have the hardware option set to 'no'.. really pee'ing me off that they choose to change the drivers 'i want' installed.

I installed 17.4.2 last week.. noticed i have 17.1.1 installed today.

Really M$ !?!?! :mad::mad::mad:

The name of the package is wrong, the MS update driver is actually 17.4.1 despite it saying 17.1.1.

If you turn off automatic device updates, MS should not force it onto your system.

Is anyone else having issues with 17.7.2 drivers and Freesync?

I get the system has detected a link failure and cannot set the requested resolution and refresh rate. I've narrowed it down to Freesync as I reset my monitor (which disables Freesync) and the issue didn't occur. Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling same version but no luck. It's basically limiting my Freesync range from 40-60 to 40-50. Monitor is LG34UM88.
Check Windows Display Properties to see if it has changed your monitors refresh rate.

Yeah. Had no luck. Still have the issue.

I could just turn off screen sleep to never which would solve the problem, but we should not have to. Would get AMDMatt's attention on the matter, but I get the feeling he and AMD are super busy at the moment :p
Does it reproduce every time you wake the screen up?
Monitor make and model?
system specs?

Monitor sleep works okay on my system on a FS display.

Windows Update driver is 17.1 (which is actually 17.4.1). This is the only driver that would be downloaded to your system from Windows Update.

Did you check Radeon Settings to see which version was installed? Our drivers just don't reinstall themselves, perhaps MSI AB was reading the driver version wrong.

Either way, try DDU and then pick the driver of your choice.

I would have thought that AMD would advertise that in the driver release - unless they are trying to cover the fact that features weren't ready for day one release?
The simple fact is if every single bug fix was in the release notes, they'd be quite long. A small sample of bug fixes is listed, some get missed out. All that matters is that i know what's fixed.
