My 290 is fine now on the new drivers.
and the option the set max FPS as dropped my temps in games with no option to do so.

Fantastic AMD :)

Could be Tony, I'm keeping an open mind.

Unfortunately one of my Fury X cards died, so i can't test FreeSync CrossFire on my system. I'm not seeing any fluctuation with one Fury X and Freesync enabled.

Decided to pop these on to give a try, and can confirm the same as Tony, with Power Efficiency OFF, my Primary card locks at its max of 1040MHz, but my second is bouncing up and down, anywhere from 500-1000, resulting in stutter, this was tested in GTA V.

In single card mode, it again locks to 1040MHz with the Power Efficiency OFF, but runs fine, no stutter, nothing, runs as good as it does on my previous drivers, the 15.9.1 BETAs, so the Power Efficiency, doesn't seem to work properly in Xfire.

Will keep these on though, as GTA V has always stuttered a bit in Xfire (not as bad as on these though with the bouncing second card), so ive always played it in single card mode anyway, and i still can on these, as Power Efficiency seems to work fine in single card mode.

Tested Dying Light as well, and thats fine in Xfire With the Power Efficiency OFF, both cards lock at 1040MHz, but i think thats because i turn the Frame Pacing off in that, as with it on, i lose about 30+ frames for some reason. :p

Can you also try without msi afterburner frame rate limiter. In the game Tony tested he noticed better results having frame limiter off.

I can do, is that without AB running, or can i just set the Frame Limit to 0, so i'll still be be able to have the OSD to see what the clocks are doing ?

EDIT: Just read back, i can do that, so will test that in a bit. :)

Any plans on a hotfix update to optimise ROTTR DX12? Runs like garbage for me (and a lot of other looking on steam discussions). :p

Once the upgrade has taken place over Steam, do you get the option to run the DX12 or the DX11 version?

I got this game running quite sweetly now on the older version and I'd like to have the option of keeping it that way if the DX12 version is worse for the time being.
:)

Well this is odd, but good. :p

I rebooted (as id only just popped the 16.3s on, so i was still on the mandatory restart you have to do after installing them), turned Xfire back on, set ABs frame limit back to 0, fired up GTA V, and this time, both cards cores locked to 1040MHz, didn't shift, so quit the game, set my frame limit back to 143 again in AB, and re-fired GTA V back up, and no change, both cards still locking @ max 1040MHz, so looks like my reboot has done something, as its all working fine here, both cards locking at max clocks in Xfire, with Power Efficiency OFF, and a frame limit set in AB.

Even tried Dying Light again, but this time with the Frame Pacing on, and both cards still locked at 1040MHz :)

EDIT: I am using FreeSync as well.

Sweet guess this time 16.3 has done its job more so than turning off Frame limit..
I highly recommend you try AMDs FRTC I just feel it does a better job. For example CSGO if I use games own limit or MSI AB I see get screen tear but if I use FRTC I dont get any with Freesync.

Glad to hear it's sorted for you. Tony might want to try:

  1. Fresh Windows Install
  2. Fully Update Windows
  3. Install Crimson 16.3
  4. Restart (:p)
  5. Disable Power Efficieny
  6. Install MSI AB + GTA V
  7. Apply Overlay Settings Only To MSI AB (no fps cap or other tweaks with any third party software)
  8. Test

Yeah, when they both locked maxed with the Frame Limit off, i thought right, i'll pop it back on, seen as i manually rebooted, just to see if it is the frame limit in AB causing it, but they are still locking maxed out, so seems that me doing another restart after id installed them, has sorted it :D

Always reboot first... :p

Yeah i will do now :D

At last, ive finally managed to update my drivers

EDIT:

Just restarted again, with Xfire enabled this time (as restarted while running a single before, before switching Xfire back on), and re-fired GTA V back up.

Still working! :D

Might try that, as GTA V seemed to be tearing with a frame limit set in ABs RT. :)

EDIT2: This is on Win 7 btw :p
