The AMD Driver Thread

I now have this exact same problem, I thought it was a mining virus, as my GPU is running at 100% both in wattman and GPU-z.
Windows defender and Malwarebytes hasnt found anything, now trying stopzilla, but thought I'd check here to see if its a possible driver problem

A reboot fixed it, not sure what circumstances lead to it before, will keep an eye out. I had been messing around running a few games.

I also let the win 10 update install so driver is not the only change.

Is the flicker your experiencing really fast? Kinda like if you used a low refresh rate on a CRT monitor?

Started with started with 16.7.3, back on 16.7.1 and its gone. Not gonna try 16.8.1 from the freesync reports I'm reading

Yeah thats the one occuring on 2d overlay windows in a game.
Must say because I play only Stellaris last two months, is not missed at all even if is (the flickering) the result of freesync working. (Without freesync no flickering) Which hadnt picked up because stellaris runs at 144fps.

I wonder if gsync has that flickering issue on 2d overlays inside games.
And the question afterwards is buy a vibe for my bday or a 1080 and a gsync monitor

Installed last night but didn't have a chance to test. When i get back home i'll check the overclocks and GPU usage. No freesync monitor (yet).

Freesync doesn't normally suffer from that issue, I only got it with 16.7.2 drivers and I didn't notice it during games. Just on the desktop. It would appear its still present in 16.8.1 hence me sticking with 16.7.1 for now

OK. I fix the Freesync not working. Apparently common issue with the XL2730Z.

To resolve it, have to turn ON the Blur Reduction, and turn it OFF again. Voilà freesync is active again.

EDIT : And turned Freesync OFF. The flickering is annoying as hell.....again -_-
(using 16.8.1).

Looks like they finally fixed that annoying unnecessary video post processing in the Crimson drivers. Before the memory would always stay at 1250MHz while watching a YT video (even when minimised) but now it only ramps up occasionally. Total system power consumption has dropped from 165W to 115W and GPU temps from 55-60C to 35-38C.

Is the flicking just affecting the XL2730Z or a general freesync issue? Its the monitor I'm using with flickering. Looks like Panos and Tony both have the same monitor

Maybe am also using xl2730z
Also noticed the OSD of the display screen info doesn't change to show correct information.
For example if I select 120hz osd will still show 144hz
