The AMD Driver Thread

Don't run gpuz and see if you still get 100% gpuz usage. I have removed mine from running at startup and no issues now until I manually run it.

I've also noticed that if it crashes in a test, it's hard to get decent scores again sometimes without a reboot.

Ive tried it with wattman running instead and with nothing, still get the same scores, it was 3011 in time spy graphics score which is the lowest by far, the others are in the 4000's, can't even beat the lowest 290

I always use the AMD utility from add/remove programs to uninstall then run DDU in safe mode and install new driver. I'm not a fan of just updating the driver in Crimson even though ppl seem to say it's fine.

Sounds like he is saying to use the AMD Clean Up Utility after uninstalling from add/remove programs.

So AMD uninstall from add/remove -> run AMD Clean Up Utility -> reboot into safe mode with DDU and run -> restart then install 16.8.2

Sounds like a bit of a faff but I'm gonna give it a go later on.

Ok so I had really good success having the flickering completely gone & FreeSync rock solid reliable via this method:

http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMD-Clean-Uninstall-Utility.aspx

Using the AMD Uninstall Utility, before the restart enabling safe mode & then using

Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) V16.1.0.

Clean Install of 16.8.2

I am considering not driver updating for a little while because as it stands right now everything is running perfect!!

Crossfire always enabled and if a game requires single card specific (CS:GO etc) using the "launch" command from within Radeon Settings with crossfire disabled profile works a treat!

just tried this Flanos, sadly still flickering in game and when i return to desktop or alt+tab.

Unistalled driver, then used the AMD cleanup, then used DDU in safe mode, reinstalled drivers and setup. First test, went into game, exited to desktop and voila, flickering again.

Can AMD ever roll out a driver that doesn't break something that was initially working just fine.

in.

When it comes to crossfire I think people need to accept that it's never going to be trouble free, History shows this and anyone going into it with there eyes wide open will know this.

Driver support for single gpu's has been exemplary since Crimson ironed out the teething problems,

If a single 390x can't provide enough grunt maybe sell up and move on, Sadly only Nvidia currently have a decent upgrade option but if you can last on a 390x whenever crossfire is broken save yourself the grief and don't try just go with the 390x for those games until Vega turns up.

I just tried installing the new drivers and got a BSOD while installing, kernal security failure or something. Now my PC is stuck in recovery mode because amdkmafd.sys. is corrupted and I can't enter safe mode or anything and I don't have a recovery disc or anything. :(

What can I do about this?

can you load in to safe mode and use DDU to remove the drivers?

i had a BSOD after installing the latest drivers and using DDU to remove and re install them fixed the issue

By total luck I tried dual booting into an old Windows install so I could download the Win 10 .iso for a recovery disc but it gave me an error and said something like 'boot to another OS' so I did and it booted into my Windows 10 install that was corrupted, I have no idea how that happened but I am very happy! :D

Uninstalled what was left of the AMD drivers and installed the new ones and everything seems OK (fingers crossed)!

First BSOD I have had since '10 came out. Why am I not suprised that it was during an AMD driver install.

Thank you for the reply though bud, much appreciated!
