The AMD Driver Thread

CSGO is one game that doesn't like FRTC the only way to limit CSGO FPS without getting stutter is by using the games own limiter FPS_MAX 143 in the console.

I think the reason for this is how CSGO works your FPS is linked with your network latency, this the reason you shouldn't limit your FPS. It can give you worst hit reg

OK that’s good to know, cheers.

Interesting article. They even overcharge for the monitors! Is there no end to the money-grabbing? And that’s why I don’t work in marketing anymore. Marketing is great isn’t it – want to overcharge your customers? Easy, just use the word “premium” a lot. As HG Wells said: ‘Marketing is legalised lying’. I probably would have bought a 1080 by now if nvidia were not classified in my mind in the same category as EA, Starbucks, MacDonalds and ISIS.

I purchased a Freesync monitor so I'm bough into that, Vega for me, if Nvidia supported Freesync (as well as GSYNC) that would be good.

There must be lots of people in the same boat, if Nvidia supported Freesync as well as GSYNC (maybe somekind of GSYNC <> Freesync adapter) that would be fab!

Freesync will never beat Gsync, as it's still limited to Fullscreen only mode.

Gsync can do it's magic in Windowed, fullscreen windowed and fullscreen exclusive mode.

Except that article more or less has just stated that it has

They also forgot to mention that intel will be supporting adaptive sync as well as support coming to TVs + consoles :D

Someone posted figures for g vs free sync selection:

2015 G-Sync monitors: 8 IPS, 3 TN, 1 VA
2016 G-Sync monitors: 3 IPS, 5 TN, 6 VA

2015 FreeSync monitors: 13 IPS, 15 TN, 2 VA
2016 FreeSync monitors: 32 IPS, 17 TN, 13 VA

Not bad considering gsync was out for over a year longer.

Only a matter of time till AMD add support for windowed mode etc.

I thought the "Never say never" was interesting, clearly they havn't ruled it out they just have no plans to do so at present. "There’s no benefit to doing so" though, in other words we can cream off the profits right now so why would we?

Yup, it is only a matter of time till nvidia add the support and make gsync even more niche than what it already is :p

The only advantage that gsync has is window support. The rest is already covered by freesync and is a matter of proper panel selection on the user side if you want to be covered going under the supported range of the monitor. That said the whole argument that gsync supports down to 1 fps is BS as no one would ever want that to happen. Heck even dropping to 30 on a gsync panel is a horrible experience just as i would imagen it would be on a freesync panel that supported it.

Not to forget that gsync simply does not work if you are running window mode in win 7 with the classic shell(i had to find out the hard way the other day). So in the end at this point in time you are paying a high premium for variable refresh rate support in windowed mode by choosing gsync. A premium that is in my own mind simply not worth it if you are just entering the market and have a budget to worry about.

PS: Where is the 29inch ultrawide gsync panels? ...2560x1080 looks horrible when blown up to 34+ inches
