The AMD Driver Thread

From an enthusiast perspective, I would firstly investigate and start diagnosing issues to rectify, learn then share. Seems these days its easier to throw up the head and demand refunds when things go wrong.

I have been diagnosing. The conclusion was the drivers are tosh.
I wasnt prepared to wait and I was still with the 14 day return period. The card has the powers being held back by trash drivers.

so drivers still causing issues on the 5700XT on both 19.7.1 and 19.7.2

OS is win 10 version 1903. OS build 18362.239.

System is

Intel 5820K
MSI X99 sli plus motherboard - i am running the latest bios available, double checked this recently.
16 GB crucial 2133 ram
5700XT of course
PSU is 650 watt corsair TX series from around 10 years ago (yes its still running like a charm) this is plugged into the card with 2 separate power cables to the card.

So to run over the problems.

Once i reinstall the drivers through DDU.

As long as I do not open radeon settings, and i meant not open it at all, if i run games, they run roughly fine, some still just crash.

My list of games that i play.

WoW
FF14
destiny 2

other games tested but i dont really play

guild wars 2
the secret world

So when i open radeon settings, whether or not i change any setting or not, games will crash very fast after this point and wattman is effectively blank, I do not get the same panel as users here when tweaking, it just has 3 settings with no graphs to fiddle with and they are all set to 0, cant turn anything on.

I do get DX failure on some crashes. (to note, my pci express is on auto instead of manually picking gen3 though doubt this will be a cause)

To add further strangeness to this, when running any game in true full screen, the game crashes anyways, running in windowed mode actually allows the game to run.

And soon as the game crashes, the audio passthrough the GPU via Displayport disappears but reappears after a restart, also means no sound through my monitor built in speakers.

So I have some work around to prevent crashes, after a DDU reinstall and now on anytime i start my system, i know i cant open radeon settings and on task manager, i end task on AMD host, both of them and display overlay, some of these restart.

Still running FF14 (to which i mostly play) in windowed mode, i havent received a crash yet and the sound option in windows sound manager does not drop either.

So this tells me there is something wrong with the AMd drivers - host application + the 5700XT cos i was running the 19.7.1 driver with my RX 480 and it did not experience any of these issues.

It's all in your head. At least that's what people in here will tell you.
Unless you are a die hard fan, return it and wait for AIBs. Drivers should be sorted by then. Or go nvidia.

Well, you have the paid Nvidia shills running damage control, the bitter folks who are trying to justify their expensive Nvidia purchases, and then there's the mindless drones who are just regurgitating the tripe the shills have fed them. :p
a slop pit trificata!

I still stand by my own personal belief that the 5700 is the low end and is only 1 of 3 of AMD's releases with 5800 series being rumored to be outed this year. Then there is the 5900 series which will have Big Navi. I think the whole encompassing releases from AMD is what have them so up in arms. Think about it. If the 5800 series is in fact encroaching on the Ti performance at 1/2 the price only a die hard fan would still buy it.

So, one must focus that there must be an "issue" with AMD drivers. Why? Reasons...
While the rest of us who actually use them are going . I don't have that/those problems.

Then enlighten us with what you system is, what OS and build are you using, what games and are you playing on proper fullscreen or windowed mode.

If you are using windows 7 for example, then we arent comparing apples to apples for example.

I like playing in full screen mode, you get more performance in games and benchmarks and settings are based on fullscreen on.

There are a few games I play and no I don't use win7. I don't have to justify anything to you as it's meaningless when I see an agenda being played out.
However, I will post this:

Funny that the review didn't mention the use of OSD for Anti Lag. Just in case this is your first time seeing it, and I most certainly believe it is, it's the green FPS counter.

To enlighten you as to it's meaning, as I've been told, is that it's what the FPS must be in order to get that level of latency if Anti Lag is off.

Please quote to me with what agenda in my posts, you said you arent having issues, im interested to how you arent.

I have posted my specs and scenarios, and im not he only one experience issues, in fact a number of people are experiencing the same thing as me, im interested to what people are running, what OS build for example are people running, is our issues attributed to running the latest version of windows?

Don't change the subject. I gave you more then ample information to inform you I'm not having a problem. On top of that I'm using anti lag inwhich I'm actually seeing a benefit.

actually you have changed the subject.

You said i had an agenda, i asked you to prove in my posts where this is, a simple quote will do.

As this thread is about drivers, this can be about issues.

You have not provided ample information, as this is a computer forum, a computer is made up of many parts and software and revisions of software.

Is there a reason why you wont provide actual information?

Are you using an older version of windows 10?

Get back to me once you've acknowledge the video. I'm not answering any other question from you.
Not with the tone and demeanor you've presented yourself.

What does the video have to do with you stating I have an agenda.

I asked you what agenda you think i have and where I have stated this.

You claimed something of me, and I asked you to prove it.

You stated you are not having issues, but failed to state what your system is, Os build.

If someone states they are having issues, they present said information in the relevant forum and thread, this is the very forum and thread I can do so in.

As you have failed to provide what makes your scenario problem free, it actually does not present anything that narrows down potential issues, you are not adding to this discussion, just simple idle natter.

Its as if you have something to hide.

Can't imagine someone made an account in 2015 to return in 2019 to shill for Nvidia.

If someone has an issue with drivers regardless of vendor the first response should not be scepticism....

There will always be people having issues and people not.

I imagine there was people trying to say Ryzen 1XXX didn't have memory issues at launch yet it's pretty well documented etc.

My own experience driver wise 5700XT has been positive apart from the first time I upgraded the driver and it basically broke them.

Yeah, buying and wanting to keep the 5700XT reference as I want to do the morphous project on it.

Just wondering, what OS and what OS build are you using?

Either me and a number of others have defected cards in some way or there is a common thing we all have, sometimes a certain build of windows 10 can do it, considering Microsoft actually doesn't let everyone install to the same update at the same time and not to mention, some people don't update at all.

I was thinking it was my platform but considering ive seen reports with people with X570 chipset happening to as well, cant be that.
