The AMD Driver Thread

If you are using chrome try a different browser. It doesn’t happen with me in Firefox or Edge.

Or turn off hardware acceleration in the browser settings.
It would be good to have a fix though right? Using a different browser isn't a fix as the issue affects all programs that are based on the same render code. For example this happens in Slack for me too.

Turning off hardware acceleration does the trick, but that disables some features like blurring backgrounds in video calls.

Exactly. We need like a proper hotfix. @AMD_Vik

So I'm having issues with my 7900 XT (moved into a new PC). Fresh Windows 10 install.
So I'm currently using the 24.12.1 drivers but have used the 25.3.2 drivers ands got the same thing (so I rolled back to the drivers I was using with this card in the other PC).
I'm not sure if it could be drivers, GPU, PSU or possibly HDMI/DP cables.
It seems that when I do anything graphically intensive, for example playing a game (Black Ops 6 seems to cause it most consistently), one or both of my displays (4K @ 120Hz monitors) got black for I'd guess 15 seconds or so. depending on the situation they might then come back and be fine for a while or it might last about a second and then go again. Reducing the Power limit (-10%) and undervolting seems to make it less frequent, but it's sort of unpredicatable.

I was previously using the GPU in another PC and didn't notice any of these issues. I was also using the CPU (Ryzen 7 7700) in the same PC as the 7900XT but the motherboard is new. The monitors were connected to that PC too.
The PSU (Corsair AX1200, the original, so it's quite old) was in a different PC running a 4060Ti using the current HDMI/DP cables. Obviously the 4060Ti was only drawing about half the power of the 7900XT.

I'm wondering if it's the PSU because it is old and the issue seems to happen more often at higher power draw. Drivers would obviously be the nicer solution, but I went back to what I thought was a "known good" (for me) version.

Has anyone else had these issues or got any ideas?

Display technology on the RX 9070 XT

HDMI 2.1B
DP 2.1A UHBR 13.5

HDMI 2.1B can only do up to 155 FPS at 3840 X 2160P at 10Bit HDR, After that it uses DSC compression
DP 2.1A UHBR 13.5 can do up to 188 FPS at 3840 X 2160P at 10Bit HDR, After that it uses DSC compression

If you turn that up to HDR 12, or 12Bit

HDMI 2.1B can only do up to 131 FPS at 3840 X 2160P at 12Bit HDR, After that it uses DSC compression
DP 2.1A UHBR 13.5 can do up to 159 FPS at 3840 X 2160P at 12Bit HDR, After that it uses DSC compression

Once you force the Display to use DSC it can get a bit funky, i think HDMI is more prone to funkiness, its just not as stable as DP.

AMD created Display Port for a reason, HDMI is garbage, its ok for TV peripherals, its not OK how high bandwidth gaming.

If you're running HDMI maybe hard cap your FPS to 120 to avoid funkiness, even on the desktop.

yeah it will be obvious.
My screen switches to "GAME mode" thinking its actually game input not desktop....which is bizarre causing an distinct flicker.
Ok, so currently have two Edge browsers side by side. Looked like everything was working fine then moved my mouse from one browser to the other and the screen went black for a very short time and returned back. I'm struggling to replicate consistently as it appears to be effected by what is in the browser at the time of two being open side by side. For example, now I can happily browse both and nothing is happening (Just as i went to send it went black haha, so no idea what's going on). Super strange, but two Edge browsers side by side def causes issues.
