Chaps I wonder if any of you can help me here.

I am getting the dreaded Black Screen then BSOD (x116) error code when trying to install the 13.12 drivers. They seem to install fine then on the restart the above happens.

I have tried removing old drivers using the Catalyst tool, tried using DDU and still nothing. So I have reverted back to 13.9 and viola everything is working as it should.

I have got all windows updates done and it is just confusing the life out of me.

Can anyone shed any light or point me in the right direction? Spec in sig below if it helps.

What OS are you running mate? The Catalyst uninstall tool played havoc with my Windows 8 install, its does sound like you are having a different issue though.
 
You are using DDU in safe mode and dont let PC update the standard display driver? Best uninstaller I found for W7 x64 was atiman uninstaller.

Never had that error with my 7990. Only probs I had was the driver looping black screen during install. You tried the 13.11 beta9.5? Same as 13.12 just not WHQL
 
One thing I did right at the end, by accident actually was remove all the onboard display drivers as well. But I instantly went back to 13.9. So they no longer appear in the Catalyst list on the tool bar.

I will try the beta driver now and see what happens.
 
Exactly the same thing happens with the Beta driver!

I am fully stumped, not tried completely uninstalling the standard VGA adaptor, could this be a factor?
 
So you are saying it automatically reverted to the 13.9 drivers?

If you have used DDU properly then there should be no drivers available at all, no catalyst no install manager no nothing. When you boot back into windows out of safe mode your desktop icons should be large and the resolution will be really low. There will be no catalyst. Did you tick the box in DDU that removes all AMD/Nvidia folders?

Unintsall catalyst from the add/remove program menu in windows, boot into safemode via msconfig in searchbar above start button. Run DDU, ticking box to remove all AMD/nvidia files, go back to MSconfig to select boot back into normal windows then install the 13.12 WHQL.

If catalyst is still present and i tautomatically rolled back to 13.9 then the drivers were not removed properly if I understand correctly.
