Well I fired up my new 290x's last night and installed 14.1 then got crashes in 3d fire strike and tombraider benchmark, knocked off xfire and everything fine.
So I decided to install 13.12 and everything was fine in xfire in those 2 apps I'm getting a bit sick of amd and drivers I had the same problem with my 7990 with bf4 when real eased a new driver and xfire didn't work I'm now thinking maybe it was a mistake to go with amd again maybe I should have coughed up the extra and got 2 780ti's.

14.1 is a beta driver you install it at your own risk. Has you found out issue do happen, best thing is to fill in a report forum send to amd.

13.12 is whql so no wounder it's working fine for you.

To be honest mate do you know that beta drivers are 'at your own risk' and not the finished article, also amd posted notes that crossfire was broken and yet I don't know how many posts I've seen today from people complaining about drivers not working. You then say you've gone back to 13.12 and they work, well yes they do because they are the end result of beta testing.:)

Oh and by the way I too am on 13.12

Can anyone tell me if the 14.1 drivers changed the Overdrive page so that the "target GPU temp" and "max fan speed" sliders have now been replaced with a "enable manual fan control" slider?

I'm really looking for confirmation that there's no longer a way to select "target GPU temp" and "max fan speed" limits. I never had the older drivers installed, so I don't really know, but what I've got in 14.1 seems to be different from all the pics on the net.

I've definitely got all 3 sliders - target temp, memory overclock, and maximum fan speed. This is just below the graph where you set power limit and core overclock.

FYI - I'm running 290s on a two week old Windows 7 install (installed 13.12 initially, then uninstalled using built in uninstaller, then 14.1 the day they came out).

That's weird. I've just de-installed, ran DDU, re-installed 14.1, and I've got only two sliders ("high performance memory clock settings" and "enable manual fan control"). I've also got two boxes, "power limit settings" and "GPU clock settings".

Are you running AIB cards or stock AMD cards?

MSI R9-290 Gaming OC. I went from a 6950 with 14.1 to a R9-290 with 14.1. I never saw the new sliders, and assumed it was because I was on a 6950, but they've not appeared since moving to a R9-290. Catalyst 14.1 looks like this on mine:

Everything fine mate. Its because you got an aib card msi and sapphire changed the bios,no target temp there cos they dont need it.I got a ref card with tri x bios and its the same as yours in ccc

Thanks for the confirmation. I though it might be something like that, but it wouldn't be the first time something didn't install correctly with CCC!

Sorry, haven't been following this thread, did someone say their GPU is throttling?

I have a 7870XT that does (but only with CCC installed) no matter what i do for some reason its CCC thats causing my GPU to down clock its self.

I get no throttling at all with CCC uninstalled, i have tried again repeatedly to run it with CCC installed and every time without fail the GPU throttles.

Uninstall it for a throttle free GPU.

Have you turned your power limit to +20%? Stops all throttling on my XT.

You got a Ref 290 and flashed it with the 290 Tri-X Bios? nice, where did you get the bios from? wouldnt mind trying that on mine

I get these, but in game, can't alt-tab out have to hard reset. It's not too often, maybe once a week, usually after a few hours gaming (Arma II/III). Temps are fine, rarely more than 60 on gpu or vrms (Sapphire Vapor-X 7970 @ 1115/1615). For reference, cpu temps (3570k @4.1ghz @1.12V - Corsair H80i) are low 50s max and PSU is a SuperFlower Plat 1K.

Bluescreenviewer has coughed up hal and ntos (?) errors when it does have something to read but usually there's nothing for it to read. Windows 7 (64) install is a couple of years old though so it may do no harm to reinstall that at some point.

Not tried 14.1 yet, currently running 13.12 after updating from one of the 13.11 betas.

Still getting the odd windows freeze, which I think is BSOD without actually showing the blue screen but, so far seems rare, I can deal with it at the moment.
