Not sure if someone else noticed but with the new 14.1 beta my card (R290 Windforce) does not report the fans RPM anymore, only the percentage value. Is is just me?

If you're not having issues elsewhere possibly not but have a read of the notes and see if there is anything else listed that might be more relevant to your setup and games.

Cheers mate, had a look at the notes and no real issues affecting me at the moment that 14.1 fix. I have BF4 and Premium installed, just think the game is rubbish, I hope Mantle starts working with more games to make it worth while.

Has anyone had a chance to test the frame pacing in the new driver for Eyefinity, Crossfire and non R9 cards? Wondering if people with 79xx's are noticing any difference in smoothness?

Just thinking if frame pacing's now working for the Crossfire & Eyefinity, it might change my advice to people looking to upgrade to 290's from "go for it" to "save your cash".

Did you try Atiman uninstaller - trhis is very thorough for W7

Sorry I have only just seen this.

I have just tried ATIMan uninstaller when trying to install the new 14.1 drivers. The same fault happens. (x00000000116) atikmpag.sys error BSOD at the windows log in.

The only thing left for me to do is reinstall windows and see if that fixes it. I cannot believe I would have to go to these lengths to install a damn driver. So frustrating.

Again I have rolled back to 13.9 with no issues at all.

I noticed that there is an Enable Graphics Overdrive option on the new 14.1's. That wasnt there before was it? :p i.e the ticky box next to the graph that allows you to move a crosshair about to OC.

Do I need to turn it on or can I still use MSI Afterburner for my overclocking?

I have read somewhere that mantle uses each GPU individually. Is this right as it would explain why it appears to me that Xfire isnt working?

I have just realised that I upgraded to 14.1 without removing all the previous drivers, as stated on the driver page (never done this before tbh). Machine seems to be working fine though.

What should one do? Re-run the driver and follow the correct procedure?

Unfortunately the 14.1 driver hasn't solved my issue.. Seem to be getting crashes in DirectX 9 games.
Memory clock gets locked at 150Mhz after the crash which requires a system restart to correct the card.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Yeah, I spoke too soon, still get the crashes :(
Seems a little more stable.

Non stop problems with my 290, maybe I should RMA and see what happens because I've spent a mental amount of time playing around with this now.

I run a number of Dx9 games with Win7 x64 and a 290X, what I've noticed with Catalyst Beta 14.1 is....

1. X Rebirth runs much smoother now, the max frame rates haven't changed much but the horrible stutter that was plaguing my experience is much better.

2. I get quite a few screen artefacts both in game and my extended desktop out of game.

3. DX9 games in general seem to show strange behaviour on the 290X, the GPU utilisation goes up and down like a yoyo.

I have been getting random game freezes with 14.1, its not CTD and you can alt tab out of the game so not locking the PC up. Has anyone experienced this?

I uninstalled drivers via DDU before installing the 14.1 beta. Will revert back to 13.12 for now.

On a revisit, with 14.1 I no longer get the browser crashes and the display driver crashes in VLC far far less often.

Still getting the odd windows freeze, which I think is BSOD without actually showing the blue screen but, so far seems rare, I can deal with it at the moment.

Overall happier, maybe the official release drivers will have it sorted.

Additional problem - when you shut down the PC, the screen goes black etc but the computer is still running away.

Any solutions for this? Was thinking of just resetting the BIOS later and installing the latest update, if any one knows a sure fire fix though?

I found that doing an uninstall from the Catalyst Setup.exe, then using DDU in safe mode before installing 14.1 beta has proved more stable. Games that were crashing before and even some BSOD have so far not reoccurred.
