Resolved Issues

    • 60Hz SST flickering has been identified as an issue with non-standard display timings exhibited by the AOC U2868PQU panel on certain AMD Radeon™ graphics cards. A software workaround has been implemented in the AMD Catalyst 14.9 driver to resolve the display timing issues with this display

Wow!
Even my BF4 temps have dropped a lot "a lot" used to be 80c top card and 78c bottom

Now top is 73c and bottom 70c

Well DONE AMD!

are you sure it's not due to weather/room temp change?

my temps have drops but i think it's due to weather/room temp change because at night the temps go up again due to my room temp gets to about 27-28c

Nope, it was something I did at first think about. But night time my room get very hot and I was playing CSGO before the driver install and I was sitting at 75c after driver change and played again 30 rounds Dust2 same map as before I was only max 68c

Edit
I do remember a Driver increasing TEMPs I think it was the first 14.7 beta

I will check this out. Where you using 14.6/14.7 before by any chance as 14.8 I believe fixed the extra heat produced by drivers past 14.4.

14.7
I remember someone on here noticed the increase after I think 14.4 I went back to 14.4 and confirmed the issue and reported it to AMD.

I didn't install 14.8 has it wasn't officially released.

Hi Matt,

I'm curious, looking at the change log for the newest drivers, there doesn't seem to be any mention of improvements for 270x's.

Are the listed improvements across the board, or isn't there any improvements for the 270x's? I have two in crossfire, and was just curious of any changes in terms of performance.

14.7 B3: FireStrike
GPU: 11888

14.9: FireStrike
GPU: 12016 (+1%)

14.7 B3: SkyDiver
GPU: 39049

14.9: SkyDiver
GPU 39137 (0%)

14.7 B3: 3DMark11
GPU: 16279

14.9: 3DMark11
GPU: 16476 (+1%)

every little helps...

Temperatures; i unistalled 14.9 and reinstalled 14.7 B3 just now to run these tests

With 14.7 B3 my peak temperature was 69c, with 14.9 it was down to 66c.

Conjecture, in FireStrike i always have got 2 or 3 flickers during benching in the same places, 14.9 made them go away, i got them before i installed 14.9 and i got them again after reinstalling 14.7 B3, i actually thought they are part and parcel i got so used to seeing them.

All in all i feel these drivers are a bit less of a strain on the GPU, reducing temperatures while maintaining performance if not increasing it slightly.

I'm quite pleased with them.

They will be across the board generally, so don't worry. Sometimes it's impossible list every performance improvement.

Since installing 14.9 I keep getting "THREAD STUCK IN DEVICE DRIVER " and a blue screen and then a forced reboot.

Can anyone advise?

Hello Footyslater,

Sorry to hear of the issue you're having.

Is your pc overclocked at all?

Hi Matt, well done on the job by the way, fully deserved!

My cpu is overclocked, never been an issue on any other full release drivers. My graphics card is not overclocked.

I've had to go back to 14.4 as the frequency of that exact error was ridiculous :(

Thank you Footyslayer.

Sorry to hear of that issue you're having.

Is your cpu definitely fully stable?

Could you provide me a copy of your DXDIAG report as well as any minidump BSOD files and i will submit then to our driver team and see if we can find a solution for you. If you could upload them to sendspace and attach them to this thread i will pass it along. Thank you. :)
