**THE AMD DRIVERS THREAD**

Last week, my blue screening started to happen again so it seems like the atikmdag.sys reg file fix was only a temporary solution, no problems for about 3 months.... and as usual, completely random, doesn't matter what usage or what time, it will either happen 4 times a day, once a day or maybe be fine for a few days or be fine for 3 months....

I tried everything that was suggested on multiple forums before I found the above "supposed" fix:

- windows reinstall (W8.1 64 bit)
- reinstalled motherboard BIOS, reset to default settings
- tried different PCI slots
- tried different AMD drivers (done a full driver wipe etc.)
- tried upping the power control for the 290 via AMD overdrive and MSI afterburner

Tested my memory with memtest the other day, no errors found.

Thankfully, it seems like I am not the only one with this problem, hundreds of other people experiencing the same:

https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=b...me&es_sm=93&ie=UTF-8#q=0xa0000001+and+AMD+290

So after some more searching in the last day or two, supposedly the 14.7+ August drivers have fixed the issue.

I have now put the latest 14.9 drivers on in hope that this will be the "magic bullet"

Well I just did a clean install of 14.4 again, and BAM massive improvement in performance and FireStrike scores!

Are you running a MacPro in Windows 7 Boot Camp with FirePro D700's?

Windows 8.1 Pro, and yes. Windows 7 cannot be installed with the 2013 Mac Pro.

Strangely Shogun 2 Benchmark results are the same. Going to have to test some other games and benchmarks. I just played some Ethan Carter again, and my max FPS was lower than with 14.9. Hmm

Ok, i'm far from a MAC expert, i'm simply thinking that given the FirePro D series is a specific MAC GPU and MAY have some diffrences to standard FirePro productivity cards.

That may also apply if your using Radeon Drivers for your FirePro?

ok guys i have a problem lol
not sure if this has been said before but, when the monitor goes to sleep mode the fans on the 290 do not stop spinning they keep going forever, with the old driver they used to stop spinning, rather annoying as i leave my pc on night time and i have a custom fan profile set in afterburner, burrrrrrrrrrrrr :p

Are these just 14.7 RC3 with WHQL stamp or do they have some other bits and bobs on top? 14.7 RC3 has been alright for me so don't wanna change unless there's reason.

Now going to try these with drivers and see what my temps are like. A good 2 Hour stint on tropico 5 should give me some idea.

With my clocks at 1120/1500 with +75 power on the core and 56% fan speed on my vapor x usually tops out at 77c.

A tad high but i like to stay quiet :)

Ill post my results later.

What bugs we talking here?

Glitches in the Game menus

Game bench does not run properly for example the bees are static

Negative scaling on multi GPU setups

4K makes 1080p look like it is running crap (should be the other way round) lol.

Absolute rubbish on Middle Earth how this got past the AMD QA team I don't know.

They're a custom version based on the W9000 chip, and I found the issue. It seems 3rd times the charm.
The graphics cards are now seen as 7900 series, instead of FirePro D700 (FireGL V), but all the FirePro features are still there, with the FirePro Control Centre

Did another run, and it seems the FirePro Control panel finally installed correctly. Access to ECC settings, Quad Buffering, and 10-bit colour and pixel space.

Also it seems I had to click "Enable AMD CrossFireX for applications that have no associated application profile" before I saw any improvements. Simply having Xfire enabled did nothing.

Also saw a tiny improvement across the board, and in 3DMark FireStrike my fan didn't rev up.

Here are the scores for tests, with slight improvements across the board.

You tried the AFR friendly thing, Kaap? Should get at least two cards running with proper usage.
I'd change your video settings with xfire disabled before you do though :D The menus are still ****** by flickering...

I saw negative scaling with trifire, but I haven't seen if there's an improvement after doing the AFR 'fix' though.

I will have a look when I am off work thanks.:)
