Hi Footyslayer,

As promised I'm back with an update.

The driver team have tested the driver upgrade (CAT 14.4 to 14.9, or CAT 14.7 to 14.9) on about 15 different system configurations yesterday, and didn't run into any BSOD issue during driver upgrade.

I'm afraid we're unable to replicate your issue. Are you 100% sure your cpu overclock is stable?

Very odd,

yes it's stable. It was bought from and fully stress tested here by overclockers before I bought the bundle.

However I am seeing issues with the card performing horribly in some games and think it needs RMA'ing, this could be the issue :)

Could be, keep me updated.

If you're feeling brave and just to rule it out, put the cpu and ram back to stock/auto clocks in the bios and test again. You never know.

nope no audio from gpu matt, just dual link dvi to monitor at 120hz :p
im installing older drivers now 14.4 just see if the fans do stop, then we know its the new drivers as i have now run my antivirus, spybot and combofix and they still dont stop spinning

will let you know very soon man

ok matt i fixed it. i ran ddu with remove amd folder checked and rebooted, change monitor sleep to 1 minuet waited and then it went to sleep mode and the fans stopped spinning BUT NOW it wont wake up from when the monitor is in sleep....i think you already know about this problem right?

I did. Thanks for the update and glad that issue is fixed. The monitor sleep issue fix will be in a future driver. :)

no lol, when the screen goes in sleep mode, the screen power light turns from green to orange and screen goes off the fans on the gpu should stop spinning,

only screen in sleep mode not the pc.

edit. will try combofix later, il let you know if it fixes it

hmmmm. surely if only your monitor is in sleep mode, the pc is still running normally so if the gpu fans stop spinning, it'll overheat

No the PC enters sleep mode and AMD's Power state is ment to kick in and shut down the fans. When you press power button PC should wake back up. But in his case the PC is going to sleep but the GPU fans are not switching off.

my Monitor bro not the PC :p:p:p the pc isnt doing anything, no sleep no hibernate nothing, its when the Monitor goes in sleep mode ie. stanby, and when you move the mouse or press a key on the keyboard... but now i have fixed it and just waiting for the driver fix so when you DO move the mouse the screen DOES turn back on :p

Ok then :p I thought you ment system goes to sleep. If the GPU is switching its fans off when monitor enters sleep whats keeping that card cool?

thats my point also.

if it's only your monitor that turns off, the pc is still running normally and if the gpu fans stop spinning it'll overheat

maybe matt or someone can explain to you better what happens....
basically, the drivers or something turns the card off when its not in use when the monitor goes in sleep mode. it doesnt get hot because the gpu is not turned on, if you know what i mean. also you look in afterburner you will see there is no gpu usage and no fan speed
must an msi 290 thing then if other peoples dont do this.

I dont ever put my PC to sleep so cant say if mine do this. But I do understand what you mean, its like when you have MultiGPU if I dont disable ULPS then my second GPU will switch off when not playing a game.

Nope I switched that off in Power options. only time my monitor switches off is when I power down the PC.
