Going to give that 14.9.1 a go later. 14.9 wont play anything for me, as soon as i launch a game, it loops sound and freezes. Sometimes even crashes just using the internet.

AMD Catalyst 14.9.1 Beta Driver for Windows

Hello everyone,

Thanks to your feedback, we've successfully resolved random crashes or hangs, or the intermittent black screen (BSOD) on reboot after installing Catalyst 14.9 Driver. These issues were thankfully not encountered by everyone, but certain combinations of hardware/software made some people unlucky victims. Thanks to our cooperation, though, we were able to resolve the problems in just seven days. We truly appreciate your detailed feedback, your patience, and your willingness to help.

Please click here to download Catalyst 14.9.1 Beta Driver for Windows and use Issue Reporting Form to report any bugs or issues. In addition, read the Feature Highlights and Known Issues sections to learn more about this version of the driver. As an aside, if you’re not affected by any of the issues resolved in this driver, you can stay with 14.9 WHQL.

Intermittent hang when launching Sniper Elite 3 with quad Crossfire

Installed these this morning, and still have the black screen issue. However I have some more info on it now. My PC monitor is DVI, so I decided to connect my TV up to my computer via the HDMI output and everything was fine, however checking all the settings my DVI monitor was not detected at all - so it looks like there's a problem with DVI output with 14.9 and 14.9.1

I also use DVI from 290x in CF to Samsung 32D850D and I've had no issues after I installed this morning from 14.7 RC. Works fine now, tried a few restarts as that was the issue I had with 14.9. Not had any problems as yet so all good. Will try it with Divinity Sin and a few others today and have a play around with afterburner.

Also did you use DDU before installing 14.9.1? I'd use that (I did) and also just uninstall the Raptr crap if you have it and try without it.

I will try DDU when I get home from work tonight as I didn't do that, I went from 14.4 to 14.9.1... It's weird in CCC I can't get it to detect my DVI display at all, but it sees the TV just fine.

Appreciate the work to get a new driver out, but unfortunately still have the black screen issue which I've noticed is only happening on my DVI output not my HDMI outputs. Also noticed in CCC using the HDMI connection that it cannot detect the DVI display at all but it detects it fine in 14.4

Poor raptr :( that program don't even link to the driver in away. That will never be the issue here.

I know, I mean just uninstall it anyway or at least don't install it with the driver package. That's just my preference as having 290x in CF there's not much need to optimise games through it :D

I've just had a look at Raptr with 14.9.1 installed and it just shows up that the latest available version is 14.9 and the 'include beta' option has gone from the preferences.

Anyhow, I hope everyone gets sorted with this latest version as I was a little miffed when it caused the restart issue on my rig. Don't regret buying my 290x's one bit but that issue did make me think about it

erm, as i was having problem with bsod's and 14.9 was doing the refuse to install thing, when i saw 14.9.1 i thought great, downloadod and installed. the install semed to be fine.

however everything still reports the driver as actually being 14.4. is this right? also ive noticed that where the gpu used to clock down to about 300 and the ram too, now the gpu doesnt go below 450 and the ram seems stuck at 1400. is this supposed to be like this?

What does it say in device manager under display adapters?

As far as I am aware 14.9 should show driver 14 301.1004.0 though I'm usually wrong ;)

Must be some kind of record replicated and out in a week.

just installed the new driver and my monitor just went to sleep while browsing on chrome, had to reset the computer :(

Is it worth updating from the first 14.9 driver, to the newer one?

I currently have no issues, apart from flickering very occasionally at low clocks on my cards. Does anyone know how to fix this?

It only does it when the card drops to idle clocks, when just sitting there on the desktop. Again very rarely. But is there any idea's about fixing this? The flicking happens so fast it would be impossible to get a picture of it.

Likely a memory frequency change.
Might use msi afterburner to set locked 2d clocks that prevent that.
