**THE AMD DRIVERS THREAD**

Ok hopefully this is the correct place - recently since the 14.9 drivers ive been encountering an odd issue where when the computer puts the monitor to sleep (20mins) if i leave it for more than an hour it will not wake up, the monitor comes out of sleep (power light stops flashing and turns solid) but the display doesnt come back till i restart the PC often losing progress with work and what not.

Monitor is connected via HDMI cable, Samsung 2233 22" with a XFX 280DD 14.9.1 drivers - all power saving options are set to never apart from monitor sleep in the control panel - Windows event log shows nothing at all.

Known problem with the drivers from what we've been told (it happens for me with the primary monitor only, and on a 295X2). Until it's fixed a workaround is to disable the monitor sleep function.

Ok gone full circle....everything tests ok ram and cpu wise under pc check, prime 95.

Spent since 6am using ddu, running full virus check, ccleaner, spybot....All clear apart the usual little false positive's

Ran fine until 20 mins ago when I installed 14.9 again, opens 3dmark with single card enabled...as soon as I try open it again with xfire on, system hang instantly. Same happens with assetto corsa

Am I looking at a borked card here?

I run two HIS 7950 boost in c/f and Assetto Corsa would start with a yellow tinted screen. I had to hit the Windows key to come out of the game and go back in to get the colours back to normal. I stopped playing games for months because I was so pi**ed off with it.
Yesterday fired the pc up again and it kept shutting down! Installed the latest 14.9 driver, no help. Took out one card and everything was fine. Then I remembered the bios switches on the pcb. Changed the card I took out, reinstalled it with two c/f bridges and the pc wouldn't even boot! By this point I started looking to get a GTX970. But then I changed the bios switch on the other card, made sure they we both running the same core and memory settings and now it's better than ever!
I only run at 1080 but can turn up the settings in AC or BF4 and it smashes it.
These cards are still more than adequate for the foreseeable future.

I'm still getting some pretty bad micro-stutter in in my 280X Xfire setup. It only seems to appear when Vsync is enable though, i played league of legends and Sniper Elite 3 and both suffer from it when Vsync in on.

Is that a known issue? How can i get rid of it?

Check to see if you are getting big dpc spikes when the stutter occurs (any crackling audio?). I have a severe issue with my 290s that causes slowdowns and audio popping she vsync is enabled. Apparently the fix is coming in a near driver release.

Matt do you think you could do a sticky about how to enable the enhanced AA settings in CCC and what games they work for? I've just run the alien: isolation benchmark and get over 130 for my tri-x and would happily sacrifice some of them for better image quality (in the absence of any downsampling tool).

Here's hoping the driver team are working on a big surprise for us AMD guys with features to match the NV control panel

I raised this issue a while back and should be fixed in an up and coming driver benny. When i know which driver, i will let you know.

Someone has already done this here Dave. Rule of thumb to use AMD's awesome supersampling in games is, the game itself has to use some sort of in game proper MSAA. You then use enhance coupled with supersampling in CCC and set the level of MSAA in game to apply the required amount of supersampling via CCC.

You cant apply SSAA on alien isolation because it doesnt support MSAA

Take a look at this post here Dave for information on how to improve the Alien Isolation image quality a bit. I've applied all the tweaks bar the resolution and FOV change and had no problems doing so.

Can I count on you for some Firestrike Ultra 4K scores when the bench launches today.:D

From what I understand of the bench, you can run it on any system (providing you have enough VRAM) as it draws the images off screen and will output them at a lower resolution to match your screen size.

Of course. I don't know much about the bench, but being 4K i imagine the AMD cards will perform well on it. :)

WHen my 290X lightnings arrive next week i will see how they handle it too.
