**THE AMD DRIVERS THREAD**

Hi

I've updated to the latest beta for Windows 8.1 and I'm having a problem with CCC not showing. When I lnstalled the new driver I got a message saying "could not find file or assembly 'MOM.Implementation' or one of it's dependancies. The system cannot find the file specified".

When I start my computer I get the following message "Could not load file or assembly 'CLI.Implementation' or one of it's dependancies. This system cannot find the file specified."

The drivers are working but just no CCC panel or shortcut showing. Anyone any ideas? I used 'Driver Fusion' to delete all files before I install the new one. I've tried re-installing it several times but still the same problem.

Just to confirm is this the latest 13.11 beta? Try to reinstall again if you have not already. If you have then wipe it clean with driver fusion. Disable driver signature enforcement in w8 (google) once you get back into windows with that disabled. Right click the beta and run as admin and then try to install it.

Running the same 13.11 B1 driver I had for win 8 on win 8.1.

Win 8.1 BTW, is exactly the same as win 8, oh... they put the start button back, but as far as I can tell, its just a button to take you back to the Metro UI.

They completely missed the point, its the Metro UI that a lot of people don't like, including me, its almost an insult promising to fix it and then just put a button there to take you back to the very thing you told them you hated.

When you say a lot of people, its actually not that many.

people just don't like change.
But when they realise it's a benefit, they come round eventually.

I am using the evaluation version so will continue evaluating before buy any key. I know what you mean humbug I don't know if using it any more will convert me - probably not.

Same here, I think it ends in Jan next year, I wouldn't bother with Win 8 or 8.1 at all, I would stick with 7 as it looks much better, and is a more productive OS to use (Because of the start menu)

The problem is DX11.1 and 11.2 are only available on 8 and 8.1, so for gaming, especially BF4, its a must.

I was running W8.1, I really liked it, but.. I had it setup to totally block out metro and boot into desktop mode, some of my Steam games didn't work. So in the end thought what is the point, and back on W7 Ultimate X64. Everything just works and no annoying Metro to bypass. I don't get why they can't have two flavors of W8, one orientated for tablets and another for traditional desktop with none of the guff. That way they would cater to both types of user...

I use IoBit Start 8, seems to work just fine for me.

The Metro UI is fine for what it was designed for, Tablet users who just want the news and Facebook.

I work with software developers, I'm not a developer myself, I head an joining department but the feedback I get from them is its clumsy and unproductive, they hate it with a passion.

unsurprisingly uptake of windows 7 far out stripped Winows 8 since its release.

Microsoft know how people feel about it, its intellectual arrogance on their part, they just can't accept it, they doggedly want to push the Metro UI onto people. And they will keep pushing it to the brink if it gets that far, at which point they will make a U-turn.

Start8. ;)

EDIT

Just seen above you already use it. Ignore.

Exactly why I needed it, dont get me wrong windows 7 for me is the best O/S up to date but as lots of people are raving about extra performance in gaming etc, then its the ideal time for me to dual boot with W7 and W8.
As its a new O/S to me then I can get used to the 'no start button' etc and will do, but I can understand those that don't like it because of no start button, but don't understand people moaning about bringing a 'start button' back to windows 8.1, but hey, each to their own!

I hate it because it's clearly an OS meant for tablets being forced on the desktop crowd, especially with DX 11.1 and 11.2 being Win8 only. I don't want to use some half-arsed tablet OS on my desktop, Win 7 is perfect for me.

This is exactly it, the Desktop market is shrinking, Microsoft are trying to get their Desktop customers used to their Tablet interface, the idea behind it is familiarity, the iPad or an Android system becomes alien.

Its a good idea cooked up by their marketing department, no doubt.

The reality is a miscalculation, its put me off a Windows tablet because my experience of it on the Desktop is agony. that's all I relate to it.

Just bought a 7970 to go into my 8350 rig and get insane CPU spikes when streaming, do you think it could be a graphics card issue? I have tried the latest Beta drivers and 13.9 and not getting much luck, any ideas?

Your help is much appreicated!

Hi matt,

trying to stream Arma/BF3 ... I had a 6950 in there last week and was able to stream no problem, not sure if its a coincidence or my CPU is having a cry. Been trying all sorts since 1pm today :(
