** The AMD Navi Thread **

I don't think they want R VII to be around that long as it's just leftovers from Instinct manufacturing IIRC - it's a good idea as keeps them in the game until their next round of cards

I didn't think they did, it was just a card to bascially say, we're still here (even thought they've not been here for years now), and also just as filler, until Navi was ready, as that got delayed.

The PS5 information is very interesting. I wonder how this fits in with desktop Navi? Sounds like it will make the PS4 look like an antique.

Yeah. I am definitely getting a PS5 now. Sounds like it will essentially be a PC now, fast loading times with an SSD :)

Yeah, I'm gonna split tech my tech spend. Rather than a complete new build, i'm just gonna update with NAVI/ZEN2/RAM and then put the rest into a PS5. I can live without updating monitor, SSD's, PSU, Case etc for a good while.

Hold your horses. Likely Stadia might be a better bet than the next console. Everything will be cloud soon. Gaming will go the same way as netflix. It is inevitable.
But there are already a few PlayStation exclusives I have put on hold playing, there will only be more with the PS5. Plus the spec seems very good and will be half the price of a 2080Ti. Lol :p

Yep. I am actually still very happy with my 4770K. I may hold on to it for another a year or two until AMD move on to AM5. The good thing about AMD is their platforms last a long time, so if I get in the start, I can upgrade the CPU only in the future if I wanted. But you never know, been wanting Zen 2 for a long time, so might buy it anyway :D

Right now my plan is get a RTX 3070 for the PC and a PS5. The 3070 will play every game I have now in my steam library comfortably with this monitor 60fps. All new games will be played on the PS5. The only thing I can see changing this is a PC exclusive like Star Citizen, but I only intend to play the single player campaign on that game. If the online play is half as good as they say, one could easily lose himself in it and it would be a major time sink. I won't even go there... :p

I'm going Ryzen 3000 and considering selling my GTX 1070 Gaming X now with the plan to buy Navi for a full AMD system. Just unsure how much of an upgrade that would be and what it would cost to change? 1440p is my preferred resolution.

About 10% performance uplift in the same 150W* :(

*If the rumours are to be believed.

I can read 4K8K. I fully comprehend what was in that 4channel post.

I presume then you're taking those 3 entries from an Anonymous poster as gospel truth? I personally think it's tenuous right now, anybody with the right level of technical knowledge could post that and claim to be an AMD employee.

Hence tenuous post is tenuous.

The architecture in Navi is called NGG, 1800MHz, 8GB GDDR6, 410GB/s over 256-bit MI, 150W, 250ish$

No way of knowing if true but if that's their top Navi 10 card that mean AMD won't be competing with the 2070 or north of the £300 segment.

They really should have that Vega 64 + 15% to compete in more price segments.

Although I'm not sure what performance is already between Vega 56 and 1080 actually means. Especially when Vega 56 matches or beats the 1080 when the games are optimised. We'd expect it to state already between Vega56 and 64 if it was a genuine AMD employee as they are comparable. Also is it actually going to be quicker at launch than it is now? Because that's what's been implied. So either the drivers improve or they tweek the hardware.

It's contextless fud, Andrew, throwing numbers that sound legitimate out there.

it is entirely possible this information is real and accurate, but nowhere does it indicate which Navi card is being posted about. If this is the top-end Navi 10 then it's shockingly poor and directly contradicts the original, much-derided AdoredTV leak and the recent comments saying Navi can touch the 2080. If this is the bottom-end Navi 12 then we have a lot more performance than expected.

Compared to a RX 580, it's still 40-50% higher performance with 23% power consumption reduction.
So then is it the top Navi, the bottom Navi or the middle Navi?

See what I mean? The numbers are just numbers without any context, and if an "AMD employee" was going to leak some genuine technical details, you'd think they'd apply some context to it. But as it stands it's a nothingness, it's not even hype train because if those numbers represent the top Navi then it's woeful.
