** The AMD Navi Thread **

anybody else having instability issues with the latest drivers? I'm finding BF5 has some more bugs, clashes to desktop, black screens etc....

Nope none. If you have issues, you need to use safe mode, wipe out with DDU the drivers and install 19.7.4
Even AMD says since 19.7.1 that drivers need to be uninstalled in safe mode if we have issues.

RDNA 1.0 Architecture Instruction Set reference guide published

That has Native 32-length wavefront, supporting fully 64-length also, makes the argument comparing GCN to RDNA like comparing trains to cars.

GCN (eg Vega) is executing 4 SIMD16 instructions every 4 cycles as a single wave64, so 1 SIMD16 per cycle.
Navi does 1 Wave32 per cycle or 1 Wave64 per 2 cycles. Is executing 2 SIMD16 instructions on a 2 SIMD32 single cycle ALUs, and chains the next execution to complete the wave 64.
So instead of 1 SIMD16 per cycle (GCN), Navi executes 2 SIMD32 per cycle on SIMD32 ALU.
