*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

Does make me wonder - everyone is certain AMD won't have a high end for a while. But these were from the same leakers who got trolled on Twitter with fake slides. It will be interesting to see what the reality is and whether RDNA5 gets pulled forward.
There's a possibility AMD's reversed the stack launch, mid range first then highend.

Also, RDNA 4's gonna get FSR4 and we can repeat all the upscaling comparisons all over again, can't wait for that.:p

Nvidia apparently has increased the price of the RTX4060,RTX3050,etc by 10% - so £300+ RTX4060 cards:

It appears in the sub £500 area they CBA anymore.

Its not as if they don't have a precedent for it.

Since 780 Ti vs R 290X there has been one high end competitor, arguably two if you include RDNA 3.

At this point AMD have not competed in the high end more than they have.

"With AIB's to benefit"

Just reading that i already know what it is...

That's Nvidia conceding AIB's don't have enough margins after Nvidia take their cut, but instead of Nvidia reducing their margins they are allowing AIB's to jack the prices up 10%.

Shock horror at capitalism!

But its AMD who are greedy....

Ya'll asked for this.

Aren't amd also charging in same ballpark as nvidia? So what's their reason for being allowed to get away with it? Don't tell me because they're a charity..... What ever happened to the spiel by amd and pushed by yourself about how chiplet would allow them to make gpus for far cheaper, what happened to those cost savings for the customers?

The RTX4060 with another 10% price rise would put the RRP at around £310 to £320.

Been helping friends with budget builds, and last month I could get an RX7700XT or RX6800XT for similar to RTX4060TI 8GB money or an RX6750XT for RTX4060 8GB money. Last month there were RX6750XT 12GB cards for under £300. The RX6750XT is around RTX4060TI 8GB level performance. That would place the RX6750XT around 25% to 30% faster than an RTX4060 with 50% more VRAM.

And for £60 to £70 more you could get an RX7700XT 12GB/RX6800 16GB for around the same price as an RTX4060TI,which is easily 20% faster with 50% more VRAM.

Even if AMD could do better, the reality the sub £500 Nvidia offerings are very poor.

Not much interest in low end so don't follow it but having a quick look on ocuk, I see:

4060ti ranging from £360-410 (in stock models)
7700xt ranging from £399-440

Which seems somewhat appropiate pricing given how they compare when factoring in the overall package:

Wouldn't touch rdna 2 with a bargepole now.

And i honestly don't think AMD squeeze their AIB's as much as Nvidia do, AIB's have a larger slice of the Radeon pie.

That's why it really _______ gaulls me when i see low IQ tech jurnoes say things like "oH AMD jUst miNuS 10%, aMDEE fAult Nvida, BuY Nvidia, DlSS"

Well it's pretty basic in terms of supply, demand and all that, nvidia gpus are selling far more than amd gpus therefore, amds aibs would need to be getting a much higher cut in order to be making good profit where as nvidia aibs sell so much more, they probably still make a good profit even if the profit margins are tighter, chances are they probably make more than amd aibs so again, it's pretty much a case of, what choice do amd have, can't exactly squeeze aibs for profit if they aren't selling enough in the first place can they? However, unless there is a legit source on how much aib make, this is nothing other than guess work from everyone.

Since your IQ is so high, I look forward to seeing your videos with substantial evidence to debunk such "tech jurnoes".

Low end and mainstream - I know far more people using sub £500 cards. RDNA2 cards are doing fine - know loads of people using them in entry level and mainstream builds. The consoles have them so it will relevant even if you need to turn settings down. People obsess about RT here and I have an RTX3060TI and it's OK but really you want something like an RTX4070 and above to really bother.

When I was doing builds late last month this is what I saw(looking at TPU figures):
1.)RX6750XT around £300 - 5% to 10% faster than an RX6700XT. So around 25% to 30% faster than an RTX4060 8GB(looking at TPU figures) for the same price and 50% more VRAM. Much faster than the RTX4060 in the vast majority of games.
2.)RX6800 16GB/RX7700XT 12GB - could be had for £360 to £390. 20% faster than an RTX4060TI 8GB with 50% to double the VRAM.
3.)RX6600 is around 25% faster than an RTX3050 8GB and 50% faster than the RTX3050 6GB(last Hardware Unboxed review).

To put in context I know a few people in my circle who only buy Nvidia highish end Nvidia stuff. They literally only recommend AMD now below £400 to £450 now if doing your own build.

Literally all the big review channels also make similar comments too.

In the end we can all moan about how AMD is joining in with Nvidia and their upscaling in price. But the reality is Nvidia has stopped caring now. They know they get enough OEM sales in laptops and prebuilt systems for these kinds of cards.

It means AMD and Intel have to do very little to look much better,if you do your own build. Which is annoying and why I think RDNA4 will be not as well priced as people think, because Nvidia won't care either.

I am honestly fedup now.

TBH my modus operandi is simple:

1) I set a budget
2) I look for reviews and see what gives me the best average FPS for the money
3) If close, I pick the option with more VRAM as it's likely to age more gracefully as the card is supposed to last at least 5 years

For the last 20 years this made me pick Radeon, of course with unlimited money an RTX 4090 would make more sense but I'm not going to spend a month of salary for a GPU.

RDNA 2 is only fine if you don't touch RT at all (outside of the titles where it is very lightly used or well optimised in) imo and of course, FSR 2 and the uncertainty whether rdna 2 will see the ai upscaling improvements from fsr 3.

I do agree though for the low end, amd are the better option, however, upscaling is a big factor for these gpus since they don't have the grunt and as shown, fsr suffers badly when used at lower res. or/and lower presets, which is more common but of course, if people insist that they would never use dlss/upscaling and native all the way and are happy to sacrifice settings to achieve their desired fps then nvidia is a hard sell.

Was just curious on the pricing though as 4060ti is priced cheaper than the 7700xt in a few places from a quick glance so have amd upped their prices or was that just deals at the time?

The big issue is the performance difference(and VRAM differences) are enough to push the AMD cards one level up(bascially Nvidia cards will have to use upscaling more often). Even with RT,I was looking at your post:

Even if you take an average of RT titles, the equivalently priced sub £500 AMD cards are generally competitive in the entry level and mainstream markets.

WRT the prices,AMD cards are usually on offer far more often or part of promotions(including cashback). This also doesn't include US/EU imports where the AMD card prices are even cheaper than the UK.

The Nvidia cards rarely get reduced. This has been the case since 2022. Some of the prices were even better last year. You could get an RX6650XT for just over £200 when an RTX3060 12GB was £300(and the RX6700XT was the same price).

Now with another 10% price rise that will push the RTX4060 8GB above £300. That means the RTX5060 will probably cost even more and so will RDNA4! :(

An RDNA 3.5 card was rumoured to replace the XTX (higher clocks mainly), but nothing more solid has since materialised.

RDNA3.5 in the APUs and made on the same TSMC 4N process Nvidia uses, seems to actually be quite decent. But not sure how an overly complex design like that would be useful unless it thrashed an RTX4090. The big issue with chiplets is the more complex packaging steps(a bottleneck) and also power draw due to the more complex signalling.

I didn't! It's why I am stuck with my current card. Ampere MK1 was such a great value generation. Who would have thought after having such gems as the RTX3060TI FE and RTX3080 10GB FE within 4 years things would be like this!:o

Neither did I mate. I never paid 4 figure sums for a GPU. But you know it is what it is.

What makes me laugh as you know is people making it sound like AMD are providing a good deal. They are not. If Nvidia have terrible prices, AMD have bad prices at best. To go from terrible to good AMD would need to have MUCH better prices imo.

Well I am not upgrading because I think the prices are crap and I want 40% to 50% performance over what I have.

Most of the RTX3060/RTX4060 owners I know, have laptops or prebuilt systems. We all know prebuilt sales dwarf self built PC sales,so Nvidia has stopped caring now. But when it comes to people who upgrade or build their own PCs,I see something very different.

Many here only buy £500+ cards. Most of the people I know who do that get Nvidia cards anyway. However, those who spend less than £500,there is far more AMD. The Nvidia card prices are not competitive - an RTX4060 will be well over £300 RRP if the price rise is true.

The AMD prices have risen too. Last year it was £300ish RTX3060 cards vs £300ish RX6700XT and the latter was bundled with a game or two(so was even cheaper) which meant the card was closer to £260ish if you sold the game. So cheaper than an RTX3060 and almost 40% faster according to TPU.

Last year RX6650XT cards for just over £200ish with a game against an RTX3050. That card is 50% faster according to TPU.

Now Nvidia is quietly replacing the 8GB RTX3050 at the lower end with a 6GB RTX3050. The RX6600 which has stayed stagnant at around £200ish(was cheaper than a while back) is 50% faster. It's a false equivalence now.
