*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

Social media is livid with Another Mahoosive Delay- everyone’s saying they’ll up their budget for a 5070ti/5080. Let’s face it whatever A-M-D do they’ll always get flack and lose pitifully. Missed opportunity like so many times in the past.

During the pandemic I wanted an AMD card but couldn’t get one as they stopped selling to the UK (direct store) then I went Nvidia, tried AMD again in 2023 with a 7800xt and was pleasantly surprised at the uplift from a 3060ti. Tbh was contemplating changing to a 9070XT for the RT uplift and was going for £500 msrp- all pipe dreams.

I might as well now wait for 60 series (at least they’ll guarantee launching product) and run my card into the ground.

Its hard to believe the cpu and gpu division at AMD are part of the same company. Its like the CPU division has Lisa Su looking over their shoulder, and the GPU division is some half baked side-line that does whatever it likes.

The gpu division really need someone looking over their shoulder who is brandishing a cat o' nine tails and isn't afraid to use it.

To be fair, I think that was Brexit.

This is weird, retailers have already received 9070XT stock and now AMD adds a two month delay? What for!?
Its likely that a few key newer titles that are used in well known review sites are sub-optimal.

Its possible that it cant be all fixed using an AMD driver.

Its possible that it will require an amd driver and a gaming patch to resolve.

It is unlikely that a delay this big is entirely pricing related

It is unlikely that AMD do not know what the 5070 performance levels are.

With FSR4 being an RDNA4 exclusive, the value of the RX7000 series is also reduced now. So if they are delaying to sell old RX7800XT and RX7700XT stock,it will need to be deep discounted.
This. The difference in the quality of upscaling between FSR3 and 4 is night and day. You can't demo a 4k bluray to someone and then tell them they can have 10% off any VHS in the shop.

Surely going from a 7800XT to a 9070XT is a bit silly? I mean sure you'll be getting something that's potentially close to 4080 performance and an FSR that's close to DLSS, but if in 2022 you'd bought a 4080 right now you'd have something with exactly 4080 performance and DLSS level upscaling and you'd have had it from 2022 without having to buy 2 graphics cards (I mean sure, you'll probably be able to buy both of them and still have change from the cost of a launch 4080, but you'd have had 4080 performance from 2022).

They've broken Humbug.
Man's been hoping AMD come good for 15 years now.
Right? He's the one I feel sorry for in all this as every generation he's the one in here defending AMD against the haters. They do like giving that man a challenge!

Not every man is as strong as me.
You misspelt "silly" :D

Humbug has really lost it he is recommending people buy the 5070
I think it’s severe frustration with what could have been a defining era for A-M-D.

The amount of sales to upgraders is smaller I would expect than the sales that will be lost to your competitors by launching 2 months late.

What has radeon division been doing for 2 years? GPUs are on a pipeline for development and don’t tell me they didn’t have the plans and prototypes for RDNA4 when they launched the 7800XT.

Absolute worst case of a company lacking confidence and belief in its product.

The problem is its always required for AMD and its too much like hard work.

I bet if Nvidia was launching a few months after AMD, most people would still wait for Nvidia. There would be none of this impatience were are seeing.

AMD is under no obligation to launch before or at the same time as Nvidia. If I was running AMD I would also be waiting for the competition to reveal all their cards and then try to counter them. Even if they have a good product, they still need to be tactical instead of blindly firing all their shots.

Anyone who is seriously in the market for a mid range GPU should be patient and wait for AMD's reveal before making a decision. Do not jump and buy a 12GB card in haste.

There is a lot of games coming out in Feb and I'm guessing people want a new card for those. Myself I'm upgrading for KCD2 and Monster Hunter Wilds, I don't wanna wait months later to play them.
