*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

Amazingly, for a couple of multibillion dollar companies these launches do seem more badly organised than a drunken stag night.

The only thing that does seem organised is the intention to extract as much profit as possible.

That's the problem with shareholder driven capitalism, if a company makes less profit than the year before it's a complete failure, it doesn't matter if they make 10s of billions it has to be more than the previous year no matter what.

Unfortunately that's never going to change unless a private company steps up.

I know it’s possibly the wrong thread but if the 5090 brings super thermals, high noise, 30% extra performance. The rest of the 5000 series stack are there for the taking for AMD.

Hello I bought all the parts in the anticipation of the 9070 - the GPU, and now I'm caught in two minds. My build is a ryzen 7600x, so I'm wondering if I should just build it and use it without a GPU and buy the 9070 when it drops or should I just buy a GPU right now 7800XT ? I forgot to mention that I have a PS5 that I game on as well so it's not likely I'm going to be without games.

If you can manage to wait until announcements are made, I would. At least that way you have waited to see what the 9070/XT will bring. If you aren't too bothered, Hop on the 7800XT train, You might get some good deals.

Thanks the deals right now on the 7800XT are crap and this why it's 50/50. £456 for a 7800XT is not a good deal since the card went to £400 during BF. So I think I might just build it and rock with an IGPU+ game on my PS5 and keep saving and at worse get a 7900xt. I have currently £515 lol saved up so it's so tempting to buy either a 7800XT/7900Gre right now lol

This whole launch is weird.

I've gone from a 5080, to a 9070xt to now not wanting to wait to getting a 5080, knowing there wont be enough stock though ill end up still waiting by the time the 9070xt are out.

What are you currently using?

I would wait 6 - 8 weeks and game on the PS5.

9070 all day.

I think the disappointment in the 5090 thread has created some illegal immigrants. :D

Even the die hards have started to wake.

I'm tired of waiting. I'm just gonna buy the GRE

The announcement is most likely coming in the next 4 weeks. AMD will have to give some info very soon after the 5070Ti is released. Just buy a cheap £50 gpu from ebay if you are that desperate but you should wait to see what the 9070 is going to be like. At the very least it will be around the same as the 7900GRE but with much better raytracing and FSR4.

@ICDP

1080ti.

So anything is an upgrade.

I would still wait a few weeks or a few months and see what Nvidia or AMD bring for a decent price. You have waited this long, it won’t make a difference and to be honest sounds more like despair than rationality. Stay the course ;)

And this take is as bad as the rest of your takes in this thread. Easily countered. Cat-The-Fifth and TNA are both active in this thread longer than you. And I posted in this thread previously, but only started taking an interest again closer launch. Which was supposed to be January. Now, it's delayed to March because of Nvidia's 5xxx announcement.

Am I an Nvidia shill now? Considering that I have been called a massive AMD fan on here multiple times in the last 16 years and ripped into shoddy releases like the RTX4070,that is a new one.I literally was arguing against Rollo back in the day when he was doing his rearguard action for Fermi and spending years defending the open standards like VESA Adaptive Sync/FreeSync.Or arguing against the low amounts of VRAM Nvidia puts on its cards, etc. I even waited six months to see if I could get an RX6700XT for RRP and that is only why I got my current card.

I have always been more of an ATI fan and remember how ATI embarrassed Nvidia in HL2 with the 9700 Pro. Nvidia didn't even do so well when ATI had mediocre releases like the 8500,2900XT,etc. If it were case of not enough products,I might understand but Polaris did better with only two budget models.

The Radeon division was what saved AMD from bankruptcy during Bulldozer - the consoles and dGPU revenues kept the company afloat. However, looking at how mismanaged the division is now with repeated mistakes and issues - I could never imagine in 2020 AMD would be at only 10% of all sales. It's the same mistakes they make again and again - lots of my mates are on Radeon cards, and we just are saddened at seeing what is happening.

Yep,, ill be waiting, though likely not through choice, I doubt there will be enough stock to buy, and I'm not paying scalped prices nor am I going to stay up late clicking refresh so I suspect ill be waiting a while.

Despite me being annoyed with how this whole "launch" is going,I will be waiting too. The 12GB on the RTX5070 is not my cup of tea! If the prices get scalped, then I agree with what@Phixsator said - both companies can keep their stock.

I'm sure I've seen them as low as £370ish. Keep an eye on HotUKDeals.

There was a deal for one in the last week for under £400. Just keep checking HUKD or similar sites.

If you paying over £500 - the RX7900XT has briefly dipped below £600 a few times last year.

Agreed, for me the 5080 is a **** take with 16gb, 5070 is a **** take with 12gb. 5070ti is a **** take on price. 9070xt seems like a nice middle ground if priced right, if they priced too high though I dunno what ill do.

I will admit, I did (until recently) think of you as one of the red team die-hards.

I see on Twitter/X there are posts saying that AMD cards will be live for preorder in March. If there's already stock at retailers why will it be preorders?

I will admit that I'm getting increasingly unhyped for both Nvidia and AMD launches. 12GB should probably be reserved for the lowest tier of cards at this point, I'm not even thrilled by the prospect of 16GB, which seems to be all that's on offer outside of the 5090.
