*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

just wait for the 9070(XT) disappointment thread
It's definitely a possibility but what we know from the Nvidia launch is it looks poor. AMD will have to try even harder to disappoint this time round. I guess they are half way there after the delays though. The 5070 12gb looks shocking to me. The 5070ti is a bit more promising yet still a hefty price. If the 9070xt comes in with good performance there is a big gap price wise to slot into. It could be a huge goal to miss where even AMD might hit the target.

I'm reading reports of the 5080 only being 4% faster than the 7900XTX in raster. (3Dmark benchmark at least)

Just gonna get worse down the stack you go , leaving the door open for AMD but as we know probably won't take advantage of it

I believe it said it increases to 9% if the 5080 is overclocked (Not sure what power usage this increases to). How well doe sthe 7900XTX overclock?

Got to say the leaked 5080 review has me worried. If the 9070XT is only a little slower than the 7900 xtx and the 5080 is only a little faster than it, I can see amd thinking "why not price it against the 5080?!" :(

90% of the 5080 for only 75% of the price. Which would suck hard for everyone

Unfortunately this is exactly how AMD think.

Yep, it could point to a 9070 XT conceivably being faster than a 5070Ti.

I think AMD will be looking at $699 as their “win market share” price. They are that delusional to be honest.

Realistically they need to be going for $599 (the old GRE MSRP) for the 9070 XT and $499 (the old 7800 XT) for the 9070… but they won’t.

For comparison My 7900 XT overlocks about 13% in actual games. My 4080 got at best 4%. So the 7900 XT goes from 15% slower to ~5% slower when overclocked. So those numbers seem about right.

Obviously this means nothing as far as RDNA4 goes though.

I should probably get round to overclocking/undervolting my 7900XT... One of those things that I've meant to do for a little while and just keep putting it off because I can't be bothered to stability test.

Not sure about that it's on the same node, they already increased power to gain performance it's more like a refresh

Sorry for OT here

It’s really very simple. I get a 5% performance increase a 287W.

Set your mV to as low as it is stable (mine goes to .975)
Set power limit to minus 10%
Set your VRAM to fast timing (leave the clocks alone)

Just doing this will get you faster than stock for lower, or at worst similar power usage.

Legend, thank you.

Back to on topic and our emotional rollercoaster of an AMD GPU release.

Have to agree on the rollercoaster front. We're all saying the same thing in different ways (pretty much), but I really do hope there are some more indicative/reliable rumours for both price and performance ahead of March. I can't be reading 57 pages of this thread every 2 days just to hear the same points over and over with the odd 'jebaited' sprinkled in here and there.

Had the 7900XTX for ~£680 I saw back in October fitted in my case it currently looks like it would have been my best option. Come on AMD, aren't you reading this thread? Do us a favour! ;)

The RTX5070TI only has about 5% extra cores than an RTX4070TI Super. So it's going to be in-between an RX7900XT and RX7900XTX and starts at £729! The RTX5070 will be lucky to match an RTX4070 Super.

The RX9070XT/RX9070 are most likely faster overall than both cards. So probably another overpriced generation from both companies! :(
